Batch 8000 is a Quadruple IPA with raspberry brewed in celebration of the 8,000th batch of beer brewed at the Short’s Brewing Production Facility in Elk Rapids. Pale amber in color, this beer carries scents of dank berries and tropical fruit. Slightly sweet to start it is quickly balanced by the tart raspberry and pungent hops. Intense citrusy dank hops coat the drinkers’ mouth balancing the high alcohol content. Powerful, intense, and boozy, Batch 8000 is the perfect sipper to share.

I love raspberry but I didn't love this. Too sweet and sticky and hot with the alcohol. Yeah, it's a sipper and I like high abv's but this is just hard on the pallet. Too heavy on the mouthfeel and it don't get raspberry, just sweet. Try Kuhnhenn's Raspberry Eisbock, not heavy, true raspberry flavor and you will have a different opinion of Batch 8000.

Pours clear deep reddish-gold. Bubbly, medium, white head that Fades slowly.

Smells orange, sweet Citrus, hint of raspberry at the beginning, herbal and alcohol.

Taste sweeter than expected. Orange, Citrus, light herbal, raspberry hints and some light alcohol. Finishes sweet with Citrus and a light fruit linger. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.

A lot of things going on with this brew. Clear amber in color. Sweet at first, then raspberry, hops and alcohol. Hit's Hard if you know what i mean. A sipper but i'm not sharing my 22 oz. Overall another winner from Short's!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/7/2018. Pours crystal clear medium orange/amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, raspberries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, raspberries, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, raspberries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy bitterness; and slight raspberry tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, raspberries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, honey, bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, raspberries, and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and lightly slick/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth of 15.8%, with minimal booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a incredible fruited huge DIPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, raspberries, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV; with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. Got even better as it warmed up. Extremely juicy hops, some jammy berries, and light dankness; balanced sweet malts, not too heavy for the ABV. The raspberries fit in perfectly with the fruity/tropical hops as expected; well restrained and not overdone to the point it feels like a fruit beer. A highly enjoyable offering.

Pour from bottle to tulip. Pinkish gold color. Agressive pour yields a few fingers of fizzy white head that begins dissipating immediately. Leaves behind spotty lacing. Big tropical fruit - pineapple, mango, papaya, passion fruit and raspberry aroma, with very little malt present. However, booze is present. Not much of a surprise at 15.8, the fruit and hop aromas can't hold back the warm alcohol odors. Flavors of mango, papaya, fruit cocktail syrup, raspberry sorbet, some booze. Slick, oily, medium feel. Runs very much in the same vein as it's little brother, Batch 5000, except with added raspberry dimension and a bigger, sweeter, warmer boozy bite. I drank this one over the course of an evening, taking three hours to drink the bomber and it still got me past tipsy. While the booze wasn't hot enough to detract from the enjoyment, this one deserves to be sampled in smaller quantities.
