October 2021 Specialty Release - 6 pack
12 oz. bottle dated 10/01/21 - 8.0% ABV / 77 IBU
Brewed and bottled in Elk Rapids, MI
Poured into a Bell's branded nonic pint glass
Look - Pours a thick, soapy white head that clings to the glass. Golden amber and hazy appearance with lots of floating bubbles and suspended yeast.
Smell - Fruity citrus and floral scent of the hops dominate the nose.
Taste - Mostly floral and grassy hops in the initial taste, then it leads into some citrus bitterness. The flavor becomes more tropical and juicy as it warms. No taste of alcohol.
Feel - The thin and crisp mouthfeel makes this easy to drink. Minimal dryness and alcohol bite makes this dangerously drinkable.
Overall - Somewhat thin on taste, but easy to drink and refreshing.

12 fl. oz. bottle
Served in an IPA glass
This beer pours amber with golden highlights and a slight haze. It is topped with several inches of beige head that leaves spotty lacing.
The smell is citrus. I get some orange and grapefruit rind along with pine.
The taste is pine with hints of citrus. Pine lingers in the finish.
Medium mouthfeel
This is a solid west coast IPA.

Looks like I’m the first review of the 2019 batch, triple dry hopped DIPA, hops unknown. Pours a nice amber/copper, nice and clear, no haze, nice thick head recedes slowly with nice lacing. Smells really nice and juicy, tropical, soft creamy bitterness, tastes very nice. Pineapple, mango, lemon, orange, grapefruit, creamy, minimal alcohol warmth, lingering bitterness on the finish. A nice big juicy DDH DIPA here, excited to see Short’s do some more dry hopped IPAs.

12oz bottles poured heavily into a shorts pub glass. bottle marked PKG031418 then 09:45:14 marked underneath it.
Appearance- transparent copper color with a slight haze and decent frothy head that dissipates quickly. nothing crazy.
Aroma- hops. tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, and slight pine. not too shabby. slight graham cracker from the malt.
Taste- the graham cracker from the aroma is there but the hops are more muted. really tame is flavor in general. really big let down. bitterness is low. nothing really standing out. kinda watery.
Mouthfeel- light/medium bodied. decent carbonation. for 8% abv this beer is light!
Drinkability- don't plan on buying anymore from this year's batch. would try it again down the road tho.
Overall- the best attribute to this brew is the aroma. flavor is really tame and is kinda watery. with it being almost 2 months old I wouldn't think the hop flavor would be gone as much; but it seems it has unless the flavor has been tame the whole time.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/13/2018. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, coconut, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, coconut, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, coconut, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, honey, lightly toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 8% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. This is basically like a less aggressive, dank, earthy, resinous version of Superfluid to me. Insanely juicy hops with light dankness; nice malt backbone, not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
