Bourbon Mango Cooler is a barrel aged Golden Ale with mangoes. Aromas and flavors of sweet mango are prominent with hints of bourbon and vanilla. This medium bodied but refreshing brew is reminiscent of a summertime cocktail Mango Whiskey Smash.

Served on tap in a snifter at a Short's tap takeover. Clear and ruby/amber in color with a few bubbles hear and there around the rim. Nice, warm aromas of vanilla, booze, and mango. Flavor is sweet and full of fleshy mango with vanilla and booze. Smooth and not very hot considering the booze in the flavor. I enjoyed this one for nearly forty minutes and it got better as it warmed.

this should be so much better than it is, man, what a disappointment. a bourbon barrel aged golden ale with mangoes, it really isnt good. clearish from the tap, copper colored not golden, and with a shirt tan head on it. smells and tastes diabetic sweet, and not just from the oak and whiskey and fruit, but from the grain too, which to me seems like a major design flaw, with all that sugar inherent in the extras, why not scale the malt sugar back enough to make this drinkable? surely this was predictable. its like caramel, long boiled too, like concentrated malt sugar underneath all the other sweetness. the mango is minimal and not particularly natural or interesting to me, while the whiskey character has a certain quickness and cheapness about it. melted plastic, lousy candy, and whiskey from a plastic handle. this one is a miss for me, and part of the issue is how much i like the idea, but the execution isnt there. this continues a run of either really good or pretty bad shorts beers. i guess when you make so many each year they cannot all be good, but this was on the edge of undrinkable. did others have the same experience? they generally do quite a bit better than this...
