Funked in the Gourd is a maple bourbon barrel aged Sour Seasonal Ale brewed with pumpkin and spices. Maple sweetness and cinnamon spice blend with tart flavors and aromas. With a creamy pumpkin mouthfeel, this beer finishes with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice before finishing tart and dry.

Thank goodness for attentive pubtenders. I had initially ordered this one on a day trip Up to the pub, but my pubtender insisted on giving me a five ounce pour instead of a full one just in case. Somehow, I missed the word "sour" in the description. Everything else should be awesome: maple, pumpkin, spices, booze. But making it a sour ale made it absolutely gross. I love me some Short's ales, but out of the 200+ I've had from them, this joins the handful that I absolutely loathe. Especially since I could detect the awesome ale that could be under the overpowering sour funk. Here's to hoping a non-sour version finds its way onto the taplist.
