$plurge is a double IPA made with a lavish blend seven varieties of hops. Slightly hazy and light copper in color, the frothy white head has huge aromas of tropical hops. Leading with super fruity citrus and pineapple flavors, this medium-bodied beer is deceivingly smooth for the higher ABV. Treat yourself to this indulgent, tropical hoppy brew! 59 IBU

Poured Liquid amber in color and topped with off white head.
The aroma hits during the pour, even my chemical damaged nose can smell the hoppy fruit like aroma. Very nice.
The taste, for me, doesn’t live up to the promise of the aroma. Disconnected bitterness harsh the otherwise tasty beer.
The feel was good, no worries there, if you like the jumbled hops flavor then you will likely enjoy this a lot.
OA, I see it is rated highly here, obviously many like it more than I. Try it if you can find it, form your own opinion!

12oz bottled 01/13/21 (38 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours hazy orange amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to fluffy ring and island leaving behind some lacing. The aroma is dank, over ripe tropical fruit with lesser notes of caramel. The taste is semisweet tropical fruit punch with a side of caramel and dank. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. Very middle of the road between east & west coast DIPA, but with the good elements of each.

Grabbed a few singles of this new DIPA from the boys in Bellaire. This one from mid-Jan. pours gold with a small but nice smelling froth..not an overwhelming sniffer but packs the hop satiating punch on contact. this one is dank, as I expected, and shorts doesn’t let down in that department!

Bottled on 1/13/21. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy golden; off-white head that fades leaving nice bubbly retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have some pineapple and tropical notes along with some hints of orange. Some crackers and fresh bread. Malts are there. The flavors are very nice. More pineapple and orange. Lots of fresh grass along with some herbal notes. Hints of pine. Nice hop flavors. Very nice hop bitterness. Finishes dry. Malts are there but almost take a backseat. Alcohol goes unnoticed for the most part. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with very active carbonation. It's sharp, crisp, very spritzy and slick.
This is a really nice DIPA. The flavors are extremely clean, crisp and refreshing. The craftsmanship is impressive. It's very enjoyable and fun to drink. Well done. I really like it.

Poured from a 12oz bottle from the December 2019 Short’s Hoppy Holidays variety pack.
Smell is amazing, peach, pineapple and candied fruit.
Taste is of peach and pineapple, a little sweet, but it works well with the flavors. Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth and creamy very little hint of the 9% abv.
Overall this is one of my favorites from Short’s. Love the unique hop flavor and mouthfeel.
World class IMO. Hope we see this again sometime.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass; bottled on 06/07/19.
A: Pours an clear, golden amber color with a two finger, foamy, off-white head, quite a bit more than rim retention, a finger really, and gorgeously complex rings of lacing all the way down the glass.
S: Aromas of caramel, honeysuckle, and pine predominate. Definitely a honey and sweet tea note. Complex and enjoyable.
T: Semisweet. Complex with flavors of caramel, pine, honey, and sweet tea evident. Modest bitterness which is well balanced overall.
M: Medium bodied with solid carbonation. Finishes cleanly without astringency evident.
O: A delicious American Imperial IPA style. Wish I had more.

I got two bottles of this beer from a mixed 12pck that I bought from my local meijer store. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent had dank fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with ripe dank fruit and bitter citrus finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Brief Review:
O: Wow. After my first sip, I couldn’t help but check BA, and to no surprise, the other reviews are great. This is a surprisingly good beer from Short’s. Not quite the NE-style IPA, but pretty close. It’s hazy, fruity, juicy, and very drinkable. Short’s can get in a rut sometimes with the volume of beer they release. But this is a reminder of what they’re truly capable of, and why I seek out beer after beer from them.

Quite nice! Poured from bottle to spiegelau IPA glass. Aromas fill the air as soon as the bottle is opened and ready to pour. Big aromas of pineapple and papaya, mango and mandarin. Hazy and dark orange, with and nice frothy head. Nice, juicy and sweet flavors with tons of dry hopped flavors. Bready malts are there, but the tropical cocktail and citrus notes slam the palate. Quite nice!
