Poured from can to nonic pint glass. Cola black with a few fingers of dark brown foam. Not much retention, but nice rings of lacing. Aromas of char and booze, light sweetness. Roast coffee, dark chocolate flavors finished with tangy pomegranate and a boozy burn. This one is an absolute sipper. 12000 is too big for more than one in an evening. The fullness, richness, and booze are limiting, it takes an evening to make it through one.

Pours jet black with a creamy billowing mocha colored head that settles slowly into a frothy mass leaving a ring behind in its wake.Aromas of bakers chocolate and faint toasted oak,I don't get too much of the pomegranate. The pomegranate come thru more on the palate, starting out with deep chocolate notes with underlying toasted oak followed by sweet/slightly sour fruitiness, ending with some earthy tones.I'ts big but not overly boozy and/or sweet, really liked this offering.

Only reason I bought this is there was a single 16 ounce can in the $10 six pack flight section at Kroger. Inky dark, nice fine carbonation, sweet roasted flavor with mild fruit. Very high ABV, more of a liqueur than a beer, packaging in a 16 oz can is nuts because I think a good serving size would be 4 ounces or so. I tried mixing it with Oberon but I don't think it improved either one.

Brief Review:
O: Wow, very surprised by this beer. Short’s tends to always come up with cool, exciting beer ideas, but execution can be average. Then every once in a while they’ll go full force and make something special. This is one of them. Super thick pour and mouthfeel. Huge ABV and lacing. Pom juice gives a nice tart balance to a big, toasty and bitter Stout. This reminds me of huge classics from Stone or Three Floyd’s. Very nicely done.
Recommendation: One of Short’s better releases in a while, try it if you see it.

I’m gonna give this bad boy a solid 4 because it’s unique. I’ve rarely had a stout that had so much going on from juicy fruit flavors to coffee, chocolate, cream, and oak. It’s balanced, there’s a lot to it though. There’s not much drinkability factor here. I took a few sips and back to the fridge to let it rest. I don’t see myself drinking more than one of these in a sitting. It’s a rarity and a one off so I would grab it just for the novelty.

16 oz can purchased today and canned 1/28/21; refrigerated 2 hours and poured into a snifter; smells of burnt oak and malts; pours black with 2 fingers of light brown head; nice lacing; taste follows the nose with burnt oak and bitter malts; slight sour of pomegranate on finish; thin mouthfeel; nothing stands out here even as it warms.
