12 oz. can dated 09/22/21 - 4.4% ABV / 43 IBU
Brewed and canned in Elk Rapids, MI
Poured into a Bell's branded nonic pint glass
Look - Pours a thick mocha colored head that clings to the glass. Pitch black opaque appearance.
Smell - Mostly roasted chocolate maltiness on the nose.
Taste - Very subtle roasted malt and chocolate taste with substantial bitterness on the aftertaste.
Feel - Smooth mouthfeel thanks to the nitro and it's easy to drink. Slightly drying on the tail end.
Overall - Subtle roasted malt and chocolate flavor and easy to drink.

12 ounce nitro can, packaged 09/22/21, shame on me for not being able to find the date on the 6 pack box before I bought it. But it was stored cold so hoping for the best with this one. Served in a mug, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a couple inch somewhat creamy nitro head that stayed around a really long time. Good amount of lacing, too. The brew smells like dark chocolate, coffee and some roasted malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with more of a kick. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's smooth and creamy, but also a bit high on the carbonation. Thought this was decent enough overall, it was better than I expected considering the age of the can. Looking online I saw Short's released a newer batch of this with a different label so I'll have to seek that one out.
