One time we cut a shi* load of 3’ ice bricks out of Torch lake to build a massive ice booth for a beer fest. Joe jumped a vintage Johnson Skee Horse 20 feet and has ice skied on the last of the ‘bergs in Elk Lake. We love winter. Forget hibernation, once the snow falls it’s time to bust out the snow suits. Crack a cold one, because Pure Michigan winter in ready for the season.

A refreshing cloudy yellow pour. There was no ABV listing on the can, and at 7.3 % I'd say barely squeaks by as an Imperial. The billing is maybe due to fact most Pilsners are between 4 to 6%? This starts full, sweet, and with a creamy mouthfeel. Could be mistaken for an IPA, as the hop presence is there, and balanced. A fine pils to celebrate Michigan Winter.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden straw color with a fluffy white head that provides ringlets of lacing. My guess is the slightly cloudy appearance is hop haze associated with the gravity of this imperial Pilsner. Looks great in the glass.

The nose is primarily floral hops and spicy, grassy aromas, with a nice bit of freshly baked white bread, which is exactly where the taste lands, with the sweetness from the white bread an excellent complement to the noble hop flavor.

The mouthfeel is full and very crisp, fitting the beer very well. This is fantastic, IMHO.

I got red flagged for what I thought of the look, so let's just call it a day. It's a decent, drinkable beer. Not good enough to ever buy again, but decent enough that if you're in a bar and this is the best you can find on a lousy menu, you won't need to leave the place over it.

poured from a 12oz can into a half pint glass. pours a slightly cloudy but vibrant yellow with a finger of firm and bright white foam. floral and lemony on the nose and taste. doesn’t drink like 7% but does have a full mouthfeel. very good. all the flavor profiles of a good pils with the amped up abv and mouthfeel you need to pu through some cold winter days.

I love the intent behind this, although the abv is too high for this to be a regular drinker.

Pours like a Pilsner, with a big spruce/juniper note on the nose. It’s appropriately wintery on the sip. If you enjoy drinking gin you will love this one.

Poured translucent gold and was capped with a nearly white 1” head which left rings of lacing.
The aroma, currently not available to me.
The taste, while really good in a floral hops and mild malt sort of way seems to me to fall a bit short of the style standard.
The feel is very nice, smooth and soft and very easy drinking.
Short’s brewery makes a lot of really good beer, and some head scratchers. This, for me, is closer to the latter than the former. Very tasty though.

Received from @BigIronH in the NBS BIF #16. Canned on 10/31/2022. Poured into a Pilsner glass. It pours a cloudy, grassy yellow with over two fingers of foamy, bright white cap and thick, soapy lacing. A rather modest smell; mostly grains and a whiff of lemon peel. The taste offers a really good balance of sweet grist and tart lemon along with notes of pine needles. It has a greater depth of flavor, and is more bitter, than a typical Pils. The mouth feel is terrific! It's surprisingly creamy with pleasant carbonation and the 7.3% ABV gives it excellent substance. Overall, a really enjoyable beer! It would be a nice change of pace after a few American IPAs.

Appearance - From the can, the beer was golden with visible carbonation and a cracker white head.

Smell - The nose had a citrus presence as well and a dry bitterness.

Taste - Initially, the profile was floral with bright citrus notes. Based on the can, I was expecting spruce/pine. However, it was never promised in the description. The finish was dry with a pleasant bitterness.

Mouthfeel - The stream of carbonation helped to foster the dry finish. The lager yeast further promoted the staying power.

Overall - This was solid for the style.

When it said imperial Pilsner and had pictures of pine trees, I was assuming it was going to be like the imperial spruce Pilsner. It missed that mark by 20 or 30 miles. Still good but I guess the low rating for me is from disappointment.
