Poured from tap at Amnesia Brewery on Mississippi.
This is a good effort. Take a good pale ale, age with plums and voila! Though the finished product is not quite cohesive, this shows that the folks at Amnesia do experiment well.
The appearance was somewhat hazy and murky. The nose was good but rather focused with plum and a faint hop note. Flavor is all about the plums. Carbonation on the palate is a little lacking, I think a bit more would up the overall drinkability. The finish is good but rather short.
Again, a good effort, but comparing to some of the other fruit beers I have tried lately (I still have dreams about the Portland Fruit Beer Festival) this one is still in the 'testing phase'.

On tap at the brewery in a shaker pint. An interesting concoction, a pale ale aged on italian plums. Said fruit certainly adds a certain rosiness to the otherwise amberish hue of the brew. A modest cap of off-white foam sticks around for a bit, leaving lazy lacing here and there.
Big fresh plum presence in the nose obscures anything else but some toasted grain. No doubt what this beer is all about. I find myself surprised at how well the plums work as the focus of a beer. They provide a certain heft to the body, a jammy, plum preserves kind of flavor that is potent without being overly sweet. Just a nip of hops, but the toasty malt profile is perfect for balancing out the fruit. The plum flavor turns tangy in the dryish finish. Nice effort from Amnesia.
