Hand-pulled half-pint @ The Firs Club, Codsall: during their beer festival on 17 Nov 2012.
Nice looking brew: deep amber with a ruby tint highlight: on top a full head of creamy foam (also cream in colour).
Malty notes hit the nose: caramel and roasted peanuts with a toffee coating came to mind.
The taste is also malts foremost: semi-sweet molasses with a fruit and nut chocolate bar feel at first, then a slight hop bitterness arrives towards the end of each sip.
Well balanced and easy to drink.

Tasted by a half-pint at a local Wetherspoons pub, The Capitol, in Forest Hill, SE London. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler.
A: bright amber hue with red glows; the sparse foam sits on top of a very settled body.
S: syrupy, juicy pale malts and sweet nuts are mixed with a deep aroma of burnt sugar or caramel and dried longan-fruits, while a light stream of flowery hops and Fuggles hops sustain in the background. Overall the aroma is thick for its alc. strength, slightly off balance.
T: deeply caramely maltiness with a bitter-sweet touch of rum and burnt dark fruits; gradually prevailing is the medium-dry palate of hops, with very restrained yet somehow lingering bitterness; also lingering at the back are aromas and flavours of longan-fruits, tea-leaves, and a juicy, sweet nuttiness of malts.
M&D: mildly syrupy and rich on the texture, slightly flat in body (not on form, I presume )this is a malty winter warmer, but in need of more balance from hops
