My girlfriend picked this one out (and seems to have enjoyed it); definitely not one I would have chosen myself. Brewed with Quebec cranberries and 100% Quebec malt. The body is an exceptionally beautiful hazy, sunset/peach colour. Very thin cover of which head with bits of lacing. If this beer had a big rocky head it would be one of the more beautiful beers I've seen, just based on that brilliant orange body.
Astringent berries up front on the nose (it's hard to pick out either blueberry or cranberry). Noble hops, light candy malt and a touch of alcohol. Not the best smelling beer but not horrible either.
If I didn't know this was brewed with cranberries I would probably think this beer was off but I can see where it's coming from; if you've ever eaten a fresh, raw cranberry you'll know what I'm talking about. Tart and dry, though not alike a true sour, with the tartness obviously coming from the cranberries. Blueberry seems to be all but lost here, overpowered by the more intensely-flavoured cranberry; a hint of their sweetness does show toward the finish but I probably wouldn't have guessed it. Well-balanced earthy hops and candy malt round it out.
Fairly thin body with moderate-but-prickly carbonation.
I wouldn't buy this again but also didn't want to buy it in the first place. I was prepared for the worst and was actually pleasantly surprised; for a cranberry beer this is mostly pulled-off. If you're expecting sugary cranberry sauce you'll be disappointed; this one is about the puckering fresh variety. I'm not sure for what occasion you would want to drink this, but in the case that you need a cranberry beer for something: here is one.
