one of the best and most unique beers at a place known for clever and quality beer all around. they had a vintage keg of this on, few years old, and i suppose the brett has probably taken over a lot more than it would fresh, super dry and the honey flavor seems gone, although i think the polleny and floral character of the honey remains, and actually is awesome with the brett. belgian yeast types up front, not fruity but with a little herbal thing going on. the booze is sharp though, it hasnt mellowed much at all over time. seems a little thin in body for the amount of support needed for the booze in this. its not hot hot, but its not a sleeper either. as original as any recipe out there, the combination of honey and the special yeasts make it great, and the age makes it relaxed in feel. it doesnt need any more carbonation, and presents itself like a thinner barleywine in some ways, bretty too though. a white wine barrel could do some hectic stuff to this, just an idea...

Pours a beautiful amber-gold color into my glass. This is an ale brewed with honey and aged on brett for 7 months. A bier de miele.
A good dose of funky brett with a touch of honey essence. The aromas seem to meld well.
Apple, cherry from the yeast combine with sweet honey to create a cornucopia of flavor. Very deceptive despite the abv.
Lingering honey and fruit with some alcohol heat. Very distinctive.
I believe this is the best fresh example of a bier de miele that I've had. I'd highly recommend it.
