On-cask 9/9/09 at Doherty's East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep orange/brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is of caramelized malts, floral hops, some citrus and some oak essence.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a subdued but complementary hops presence comes in. The malt character is hearty and there's a good balance. While I wasn't tasting the flavor of the oak-aging, it definitely seemed to bring everything together nicely. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a nice improvement to what is normally a pretty mediocre beer.

Presented reddish/orange,perfectly bright with nill head.
Exotic aromatics.
Loaded with ripe fruit accented with complimentary hops.
Vigourous swirling revealed tangerines, cherries, pineapples, apricots, and a hint of citric bitterness.
Thin on the pallet, barely carbonated, and tasty.
Juicy and smooth with balanced hops, nothing overpowering here. Oak character very subdued,an accent at most. The fruit outlingers any dry oakiness that tries to step up in the finish.
Very different than the Harpoon IPA we've all tried at chain restaurants.
Sampled at NERAX 2005.
