On draught at Dive 106, NY, NY.
Pours a dark brown, nearly black color. Moderate tan head retains well and leaves a ring of lacing.
The aromas are toasty and bready with a mild roast. Notes of caramel, bread crust, chocolate, nutty malts, dark fruit and cinnamon like spices.
Sweet and malt forward with a late developing mild bitterness. Notes of biscuit, dark caramel, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, dark chocolate and a touch of roasted malts. There are also creamy oats and sweet doughy malts that evoke oatmeal cookie. The finish is smooth and semi dry.
Full bodied with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The carbonation is moderate to gentle.
Solid Porter that’s extra strength and on the sweet side; good dessert or nightcap. Despite the higher ABV, it’s easy to drink.

8th review, better than most BAs.
a) Fervent lacing and head over deep brown body.
s) Cinnamon dominant.
t) Rich, cinnamon, vanilla, sugar cookie.
f) Sticky enough, I'm all for it.
o) better than the consensus

Poured from a crowler filled at the brewery, into the test glass
A - Deep dark backdrop hides active carbonation, a superb frothy head starts off strong, quickly dissipates.
S - Spices like cinnamon, brown sugar and roast malts,
T - Interesting, hints of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa all in play, they weren't kidding when oatmeal cookie was mentioned.
M - Medium in body, starts a bit sweet, then the spices move in and things pivot, a dry finish with no linger is the to follow
O - An interesting take on the spiced porter, not a hint of that 9+% shows anywhere, I am glad to have tried this

The beer pours a very nice tan head that dissipates quickly but leaves a good film of foam on the surface. The beer itself has a really nice dark chocolate look to it.
The taste and smell are good. It has a subtle coffee note underneath the creamy and light dark chocolate notes. It has some light nutmeg and it definitely resembles an oatmeal cookie. There also seems to be a little of raisin at the end.
The feel is good. It's a medium bodied beer with a bit of fizzy carbonation that starts strong but ends in the finish.
Overall, a pretty good beer and worth getting. This is definitely one of the more interesting porters with how the beer strongly resembles an oatmeal cookie.

Had on tap. Pours clear, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is oatmeal, chocolate, brown sugar, and a touch of raisin at the end. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation and sweet. Tastes like a beer/cookie mix. Unique and delightful...Worth a shot.

Harpoon Nana's Nightcap - 100 Barrel Series
22 oz. brown bottle
9% ABV
2017 jet ink on the top of the bottle
Served in a 20 oz tulip glass
Pours a color reminiscent of charcoal with khaki colored lacings.
Malty nose with whiffs of Christmas cookies baking in the oven.
The mouthfeel is syrupy with hints of Hershey chocolate powder, cinnamon, all spice and peppermint candy. I also detect an oatmeal cookie flavor too. There is a mini hop snap on the finish, but this is predominantly a malty Porter. A tad too sugary sweet and cloying for my extended enjoyment.

Darker brown where no light passes through the edge. Decent starting head but settles to the point where no lace shows up.
The smell is mild but unusual. After the taste, I realize there's mint, but on second smell, I still cannot distinctly detect it. Still it lacks the traditional Porter aromas because the malt is muted and counterbalanced by what I'd describe as a bit pepper nose.
There's a definitive mint flavor to the basic Porter taste. Think York Peppermint Patty. Moderate body and effervescence. Good chocolate finish with a mint presence for a pleasant overall effect.

I used to love Harpoon, then my tastes expanded and I feel like they went downhill. Anyways this looks like it could be a fun beer.
Pours a light fizzy tan head that hits about 1/2 a finger, little lacing, dark almost black color
Nose toasted and slight roasted malt, biscuity cookie dough and roasty chocolate porter, dark baker's chocolate cocoa and a little creamy oatmeal a bit of alcohol additions
Taste brings sweet creamy malts, a little chocolate cocoa, milk chocolate almost lactose like, creamy oats but not too thick, some cinnamon and baking spice, with toasted malts and a touch of roast, biscuity cookie dough, and my brain gives touches of fruity raisin but not sure if that's really there or my brain thinking it is, a little fusel alcohol note, baker's chocolate, and toasted oats, quite a bit like blended oatmeal cookie with maybe raisins, covered in chocolate milk and icing, then blended with a bottle of godiva or something, touch of bitterness on the back end.
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy and milky, decent carb, a little warming booze but more alcohol flavors than burn
Overall not bad, an interesting beer, a bit too boozy tasting for what it is, but enjoyable night cap.

Poured into a clear mug.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a nice looking finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a mild pace. Some lace ran here and there.
The aroma captured a nice blend of sweet to roasty to bitter coffee beans, coffee grounds and cocoa powder all seemingly coming together pretty nice. Just a whiff of some earthy hops on the back end.
The flavor was a nice balance of sweet to roasty and seemed to have just a touch of airy bitterness at the end just before the aftertaste which had a little bit of toast and dark fruity jam in it.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under telling me that it's a fine American porter well worthy of coming back to.
Overall, pretty nice American porter well worthy of coming back to.
