I can't believe it's gone...pulled from the line like a dirty sock. Oh well, at least i had a chance to try it. This was one of their best beers. Deep rusty red color with great lace. very malty with a biscuity taste and lots and lots of hops.
Spring is gonna really suck this year.

One of my favourite local Boston beers to drink come Spring time. Extremely rich, malty and hoppy with an alcohol punch.

Presentation: 12 oz. brown long neck with a bottled on date jet printed on the glass.

Appearance: Crystal clear copper with a slightly reddish tint. Great head retention ... dense, rocky and sticky all over with random rings all the way down the glass.

Smell: Big and aromatic with a touch of sweet floral hop, a heaping handful of malt with some biscuit grainy aromas and a spicy/sweet alcohol also is in the clean nose.

Taste: Very rich in body with a smooth mouthfeel. Big malt backbone with bready and biscuity flavours. Hop character is impressive ... little oily with a level floral/herbal tasting bitterness. Sweet grain taste from the residual sugars battle with the lingering herbal hop bitterness and flavour. A mingled flavourful mess of grain and hops are in the finish.

Notes: This is a prominent Boston area beer, great use of hops to balance the huge malt body. The guys at Harpoon have showed their brewing potential yet again and have redefined the Maibock style ... a must buy for spring seasonals.
