Dark brown color where little light passes through the edge. Modest head which settles to rim bubbles and leaves no lace.
Excellent licorice smell. Reminds me of Good-n-Plenty candy. Slightly sweet with no traditional "beer" smells. I like it but one better like licorice to try this beer.
Like the smell, this is far more licoricey than stout. Unlike the smell, there are some beer elements in the taste. I do get some darker malt and alcohol on the tongue. Moderate body with an elevated carbonation level. I love licorice but this is a bit of a one trick pony.
