West Coast-ish Double IPA brewed with wheat, a touch of Gambrinus honey malt, and an extra healthy dose of both Simcoe and Mosaic.

Can from the packie.
Mostly clear deep gold in color with a frothy off white head that persists. Citrus earthy pine and light tropical notes against a solid bready light caramel maltiness. Old school at its finest.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; bottled 12/13/18.
A: Pours a rather hazy amber color with less than one finger, off-white, bubbly head, somewhere between rim and cap retention, and spidery rings of lacing.
S: Aromas of caramel, molasses, honeysuckle, and a little pine. Generically citrusy. Malty.
T: Semisweet. Caramel and citrus (?lemon) flavors lead. Bitterness offsets excessive sweetness in a balanced way despite 60 IBU.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Crisp, surprisingly refreshing finish.
O: I enjoyed this beer. It was much lighter bodied than most IIPAs. More like a, say, English or at least East Coast IPA in nose and palatal characteristics. Solidly flavorful.

A: Pours a golden color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap that leaves good lacing
S: Citrus, floral notes, honey, and some earthy undertones
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with some citrus and floral hop notes and then picks up some earthiness and light sweetness. Lightly bitter. Finishes with lingering citrus and floral hop notes
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth
O: An easy-drinking DIPA that is well-balanced. Nothing too special, though. Solid

Harpoon #5.
Pours a near clear gold with a slightly off white head that recedes, settles leaving some decent side glass lace.
AROMA: Aromatic, punchant, spicy esters. Some citrus hops. Boozy.
TASTE: Getting more malts in the taste. Sweet malts, with some vanilla. Not real hoppy, especially for a Double
IPA. Sharp tart bite.
For me, the best of the variety pack.

12 oz. Bottle. 12/3/18 opened on 1/30/19 and a update from 11/14/24 on Untapped. Limited 12 oz can 8.1 % Abv.
Headed back to old school, West Coast style DIPA.....
A mostly clear honey color looks lively with a white, chunky, sea foamy cover that holds on tight. Constant foam coverage and decent amounts of sticky lace.
The hops and huge malty aroma meld together to create a very pungent nose. The hops are sweet and fruity, tropical reds blend well with a honey-dosed malty scent. Brown sugar and caramel from the malt and sweet floral notes from the hops really bring it all together. Mildly boozy, well hidden in the nose for 9% abv.
The hop attack kicks in first with spicy fruits and then a dry-earthy malt bite, super crisp and zesty for the style. The hops also bring out bitter, dry and earthy tones in the middle of the flavor. Sour citrus bite with a dash of herbs and spices in the finish.
The heady malt flavor never becomes too cloying or malty slick in the mouthfeel. This sweet, but zippy malt character seems to be in excellent alignment with the hops in both feel and flavor. Medium bodied, crisp and slightly malty in the finish proves to be a sipper, but certainly not "hot" from the warming boozy effect.
Overall, pleasantly surprised, especially since its been all about the New England Style DIPA's in my world. Cheers.
Harpoon Double IPA
Harpoon Brewery
IPA - Imperial / Double
This harkens back to good 'ol days of the "Imperial" or Double IPA with its balance of caramel like malt and big, bitter, piney hops. The malt presences is unlike the now, common and more exesible NE hazy cousin. Smooth, but hefty feel and sip it slowness

Just misses, pleased to be 4th review of this double IPA as Harpoon upgrades it's line.
Trending toward EIPA/traditional. But made right the Boston harbor way.

A: crystal clear; copper in color; 2 finger off white head that receded to a splotchy cap; nice lacing;
S: quite aromatic; pineapple juice - almost pina colada-like;
T: floral and pineapple juice up front; middle is orange and pineapple juice; finish is all pineapple juice with mild bitterness;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish; hides the ABV well;
O: loved the dryness of the finish, but the flavor and aroma seemed somewhat artificial;

Bottle bought locally, near the brewery. Dated 12/3/2018. Drank on 1/8/2019. This appears to be part of their new craft beer style label by Harpoon, introduced late 2018, for Spring 2019.
Served in a straight stemmed ale goblet. Served chilled, but better flavor when it lost some of its chill. The white head disappeared quickly. It is very slightly hazy and golden.
Simcoe and Mosaic hops and it give a nice aromatic and lightly floral flavor. It has a very light aroma. It has a good malty balance with the hops. Great value for money.
