Light Force has all the hallmarks of a classic White Ale except for one thing—at 94 calories* it’s also a light beer. We had been dreaming about a full-flavored low-cal White Ale for years when we finally set out to make one in 2020. The result is this crushable force of flavor.

Mass. Bay Brewing Co. "UFO Light Force"
12 fl. oz. can
Notes: 94 calories and 3g carbohydrates per 12 oz. serving.
Look: Hazy golden body with an orange sheen beneath a short head of white foam. The head retention and lacing are simply average.
Smell: Delicate orange with a hint of woody spiciness over a lightly wheaty malt base.
Taste: The sweetish and lightly wheaty malt base is threaded through with a pleasant amount of orange, a delicate spiciness, and some straw-like grassiness. It's very mildly bitter but still mostly dry in the finish as there's really not a whole lot of malt that needs to be balanced.
Feel: Light-medium in body and bristling with a fine-bubbled carbonation.
Overall: While it does have a measley .4 grams more carbohydrates than Michelob Ultra, it's also got it beat by 1 less calorie! While I don't care about either of those things I'll say that I certainly prefer the UFO Light Force because the yeast itself is giving it flavor, and the added coriander and orange peel are just a bonus. It's not as flavorful as even one of the lower gravity witbiers from Europe it's still got the overall character, and let's be honest, it's actually pretty close to some of them! Judged as a light beer I think this scores amazingly well, but judged as a Belgian-style witbier it's lacking. Still, this is a tasty and refreshing brew that you could enjoy repeatedly at just 4.0% ABV.

Cloudy gold orange appearance.
Light body with about average, effervescent carbonation
Aroma is malt,grain/cereal,citrus,overall appealing.
Taste is similar to aroma but definitely on the light side of flavor.
Overall when I take into account its low calorie its a pretty decent beer that I enjoyed.

Look - 12 oz can poured into a tulip glass. lemon yellow in color, cloudy with some residue, and small head with a little bit of lacing.
Smell - fresh orange juice with some orange/lemon zest, similar to a Blue Moon. a good whiff of wheat flavor as well.
Taste - surprisingly light on the palate. wheat flavor detectable immediately, complemented by orange peel and light spices. wheat flavor sustains until the finish, which is quite clean.
Feel - medium bodied (on the lighter side), moderate carbonation, and low ABV at just 4%.
Overall - a sessionable witbier with a low on calories but with no compromise to the flavor: quite tasty.

12oz can into a pint glass. Canned 6/7/21, so closing in on 3 months old.
Looks decent enough in the glass. Slightly hazy pale golden yellow body. Small white head shrinks to a ring, not much lacing.
Musty malty aroma.
On tasting, a fleeting wheat note soon disappears, and we are left with a straightforward light lager.
Mouth closer to medium than thin, a little drying on the finish, with a hint of fruit.
Overall, decent enough for the style, no bad aftertaste. Perhaps with a little tweaking, the wheat and fruit notes might come through more.

From a can, pours as a cloudy straw with a thin white quickly dissipating head. Light forgettable aroma, but not off-putting like some light beers. Malt and hops are evenly balanced, but neither is very exciting. There is the welcome lack of the offensive flavors common to light beers (like metallic, corn, or rice). Overall, solidly above average for a light beer.

It pours cloudy gold with a thin white head, pretty much identical to their UFO White. The smell has that "light beer funk" to it: sort of bread and metal. However, there is a slight citrus presence. The taste pretty much follows the nose. Light on flavor with a light body as well. If you asked me to taste a lineup of light beers with this included, I wouldn't be able to differentiate it from the pack. Not sure how the price compares to commercial light beers, as I had it as part of a variety pack.
