Harpoon is donating some of the proceeds from this amber ale to several charities. It's listed as their original ale, first brewed in 1986. The nose is rather malty, and it does have a reddish color with a white head. It's a remarkably sweet red ale, but not cloyingly so. It's as though they tempered it with just enough hops to cut off the sweetness at the "sweet spot". I'm glad I picked this up on a whim.

From the can, it pours a clear amber with a nice thick white head that slowly dissipates. In the nose, it is lightly malty. In the mouth, it is fresh tasting, malty with a touch of caramel - not too much! - nice amber ale!
