Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep copper amber color with a very small head of white foam. The head fades rather fast, leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is quite strong of a caramel and toasted bready smell mixed with other aromas of a light harvest fruit of apple and pear. Other aromas of a doughy smell and a bit of herb are there as well.
Taste – The taste starts out with a strong toasted bready flavor mixed with other flavors of a sweeter caramel and molasses. There is also a bit of apple and raisin mixed with a little bit of herbal hop. As the taste moves to its finish, the sweeter gets a bit lower, all while the roastiness increases, and with a amping up of the breadiness, one is left with a toasted malty and slightly sweeter taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – For a 5 % abv brew the body is thicker with a carbonation level that is more moderate. For the heavier roast and sweetness the feel is good, and makes for a slower sipper at a lower abv.
Overall – A rather decent amber overall. Nothing too special, but fun none the less.
