Had a pint at the brewery on a brisk night.
A - A thick, dense head that stayed to the bottom of the pint. Gorgeous garnet red color with great carbonation.
S- Spruce. It just hits you. Smelled like walking in the woods. After you get through the spruce, there was a really nice baked sweet bread / malt character.
T - The spruce was a bit over powering a first but was balanced. It added a pleasant spice / herbal character to the beer. Once through the spice, it had a nice malt backbone. Very nice flavor.
M - It was a perfectly made cask. Creamy mouth feel with out coating the mouth. Very nice body.
D - While the spruce was a bit over powering, pairing it with a basket of beer battered onion rings was really good. The spruce cut the fattiness of the rings really well. Paired with food it is fantastic, though a little difficult on its own. Overall I really liked it and would order it again.
