Not retired.
Served on tap, it's a golden yellow color, slightly darker than their pilsner, with very little head. Nice clarity.
Sweet fruity aroma, a little unusual for a tripel but really pleasant. It has a floral quality here too.
Flavor is strong, very spicy and strangely fruity. Estery with lots of sweet citrus flavor. It's sweet upfront but finishes dry with solid peppery spice.
Mouthfeel is good, not as carbonated as most Belgian ales. Alcohol is well hidden until you feel the burn at the end. I could drink this any time of year and it goes well with the spicy food I had for lunch.
Definately an unusual tripel but a good one nonetheless.

A slightly hazed, golden/amber body is how this was poured. the fluffly white head started to chunk a bit, then mellowed out to a nice thin layer of suds.
Aroma contained the expected Belgian yeast richness with some orange peel, light prunes, golden raisin and lemongrass.
Taste follows the nose. The soft feel of this brew really enhances, yet tames, the yeast flavors. Some slight herbal spices and corriander round out the taste.
I had the Black Triple 6's at Falling Rock a few weeks back, and I liked that one better. But this one is a nice tripel; real nice on a hot, muggy (OK, not that muggy in CO.) night.

Ordered this on-tap at the Wynkoop Brewery. Very happy to have caught this limited-edition brew while on vacation in Denver. Thanks to BA for the heads up! Poured a light honey color, with a decent white head on it. Fairly heavy lacing. The carbonation consisted of tiny, tiny bubbles. Aromas and tastes of overripe banana and banana cream pie. Nice level of sweetness to balance the alcohol, which really came through upon tasting. Good hoppy finish to, which complements the sticky sweetness and the alcohol. Overall, a very balanced beer. Carbonation helps the flavoring, and makes it easily drinkable. Despite the high ABV, it's easy to sip. Overall, highly recommended.

This is the Wynkoop's "celebration" Tripel for 06/06/06...but considering how good it is, I'd like to see it return. Obviously I doubt the name will stick in that case!
Comes in a large brandy snifter.
Color is a dark golden color. Pretty impressive to be honest.
Smells just like the real thing. It's a little subduded, but still authentic. Mainly yeast, liquor, candy, and grain.
Flavors are of alchohol, brandy-soaked fruit, sweetness, yeast, and corn. No, I don't mean adjuncts...I get that flavor overtone in pretty much any belgian yeast brew.
Mouthfeel/Drinkability is rather high for this style. At over 10%, this brew is strong but it went down easy. I had this as my first drink of the night and it was like drinking something that's 1/2 of it's actual potency.
I stand impressed. It tastes authentic, but the maltiness of the beer is stronger than what you'd expect. I really enjoyed this.
I doubt this beer will be there for long, so get it while it's around!
EDIT: Future variations of this beer have been a little different with the 2010 version being spiced with what I can only guess might be rosemary. It's a terrific seasonal - worth seeking for sure.
