its back for the reelection campaign. pours a clear golden color with a slight orange hue and a very small white head that fades away rather quickly. smells like german malts and grassy hops, a little bit off. flavor is quite bold on the hop front for a beer in this genre, grassy and bitter in the finish. not nearly as malty sweet as many of these seasonal bocks either. none of that thick caramel sticky feeling either. feel is fine and suitable, lighter medium body and pronounced carbonation. overall not a beer id rush to the polls for, but a sessionable pint for an important cause.

A: Pours a nice golden yellow with a nice fluffy head. Very sparse lace.
S: Malty, doughy, grainy with a bit of corn up front. Nice blast of bitter hops as well.
T: Very similar to aroma. Very grainy, cereal malt up front. Hints of bready sweetness in the middle. It finishes nice and bitter with hints of pine and grass.
M: Medium in body, smooth with great carbonation.
D: Very one of the better offerings I tried at Wynkoop.

I couldn't get a style description from the waiter, so I actually had this pegged as an export, which the 'Koop has done well in the past.
Arrives a nice deep golden color with about 2/3 inch of head.
Smells pretty malty, but with a hint of potency.
The taste is sweet and malty with clean noble hops as a compliment. The malts have a little bit of buttery caramel flavor, which lingers after the finish. The hops could potentially use a tiny kick-up to keep that in check.
I downed my pint and certainly would've had another if I had time.
Not bad at all.
The Wynkoop does a good job with lagers, so I hope they add some more to the normal line-up.

What an incredible year to live in Denver.
Had this the week of the convention, just now getting around to the review I wrote on a napkin.
a: Amber body with a thin head.
s: Caramel malt and spicy hops.
t: Nice toasted malt backbone with a firm spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Think a more hoppy version of Dead Guy.
m: Smooth, but maybe a touch thin.
d: More than a gimmick, I would drink it even if it wasn't named after Barack Obama. Like Obama himself, I can't get enough of this beer. This would make a quality session brew.

Threw this one back as the second beer on GABF weekend '08. Part gimmick in the name, but the beer is quite nice. True to Maibocks in the rich pilsner malts with a hint of caramelly notes. Rich peaches and apples follow up along with a sweet, syrupy, alcohol taste. Body is a bit light- maybe more like a traditional Bockbier. Strong estery notes begin to come through at mid-palate and ride into the finish. Finishes a bit too sweet and a bit wort-y. Although the style allows for light herbal hops, this one is quite shy and could use the extra depth.

Pours copper with thin head. The smell is strong, sweet and floral. The flavor is subtle, malty and grainy with a bit of pine and a bit of flower with a sneaky hop bitterness. The Mouthfeel is surprisingly viscous for the color, clings more than one might expect.
