meh for me. this beer pours a little cloudy and pale golden in color. a very small white head just a quarter inch thick is there on top. the smell is that same yeast they used in the koop de ville, which is really all i can smell in this, dominating. the hops dont come in until the taste. its very similar to the koop in flavor too, fruity and sweet from the yeast, a white pepper note, estery and high toned, but there is a decent floral hop vibe in the finish which is a nice addition. i dont know what to make of this really, its drinkable enough and tastes alright, but it doesnt yell saison at me, sort of a weird hybrid ale, without anything really too rustic about it, not farmy in the way i want it to be. maybe more appealing to the pure belgian seeker. the yeast is too familiar from their other beers to get past for me. not my favorite overall, but fairly complex for something this drinkable and probably worth a try if you havnt had their koop de ville brew. i always appreciate the innovation here, whether they hit for me or not...

Had this one on tap yesterday at the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver. Listed as a Belgian style ale, although no other descriptions were forthcoming. Golden color, with a decent white head. This one has a pretty funky nose, horse blanket, brett and a late tartness. On the palate, medium bodied and funky, as more of the bretty tartness comes through.
