8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - these new offerings made across the parking lot sure are employing rye grain quite often, or at least it seems so to this observer.

This beer appears a clear, medium copper amber colour, with a thin cap of wispy and faintly bubbly off-white head, which leaves a few instances of random streaky lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, a lesser rye graininess, some faint earthy pepper spice, a touch of damp banana chips, and very subtle leafy, musty, and floral noble hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a hint of buttery crackers, sweet rye whisky sans the heat, a bit of generic pome fruitiness, mild yeasty notes, and more well-understated earthy, leafy, and floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is kind of tame in its weak-sauce frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, with just a suggestion of rye astringency making a minor fuss here. It finishes off-dry, the mixed malt essentially the only lingering game in town.

Overall - another well enough made brew, still, it rather bores the hell out of me. Maybe it's the lack of hop offset, which I know is style-dependent, but I'm content with my serving size this time.
