So, a fruit salesman walks into a bar... and however that joke goes, the buyers for jolly pumpkin end up buying a ton of citrus fruit, and walah- Citrus Sales Guy is born.
A peppery nose carries overtones of sour citrus, white wine, cider and an earthen perfume of damp hay and weathered woods. Its pale golden hue with a wisping yet stable white froth leads in to a scant sweetness of wafer and lightly powdered sugar.
Its malty edge falls off and what's left of its wheaten character carries a creamy effervescence that highlights the beer's spicy side. Filled with fruit, its natural taste of lemon, lime, white grape and gooseberry is also deep with verbena and radiant orange peel. Seeming "young" in its fruit-forward display, the yeasty thumbprints of Jolly Pumpkin are all over the session with that spicy, yeasty, earthy and light medicinal notes. Hopped for tepid balance, a broad, woodsy and herbal bitterness links up with sourness for a bright and inquisitive drink.
Light in body, the beer's creaminess keeps the texture from absolute bone dryness. The salinity of the sea works with the salt for hints of a bitter margarita lurking in the recesses of complexity. Softly briny, bitter and acidic, the flavor and textures are short, crisp and refreshing.
