From notes. According to the bartender, this is something dreamed up by C.I.'s own brewmaster, rather than Ram corporate bigwigs. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to learn how the apple flavor is imparted, whether it's just applejuice or if chunks of apples are fermented along with the beer.
Cloudy, yellow-gold color, with a big white head. Moderate amounts of lace.
Fruity and tart in the nose. While apple aroma is very prominent, the tart, spicy scents traditionally associated with the witbier style is definitely present.
Like in the nose, the fruit flavor is what jumps out the most, but, again, the witbier characteristics are not lost. Banana-ish cloves and sharp, tart orangepeel notes are very capably backing up the apple flavor.
Light-bodied, with a slightly crisp mouthfeel.
While a little too fruity for repeated pints, this hit the spot on a mid-90s summer day.
