Glass: Three Weavers 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $9.99 for a mixed 12-pack (4 different beers)
From: Trader Joe’s in College Area (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 5, 2022
Consumed: May 5, 2022
Misc.: 12-pack packaged on Dec. 6, 2021; Best by July 2022; Bottled on Nov. 30, 2021 at 12:13 p.m. ET; Best by June 30, 2022
Saw this variety 12-pack (four different beers) at Trader Joe’s and had to grab it. It’s not often I see Saranac in San Diego but it brings me back to my home roots of New York. Could only see the box and saw that it was best by July 2022 but missed the packaged date of Dec. 6, 2021 via Julian code. Woof. So decided only to review the Kolsch and the Helles Lager, and just to drink the pale ale and hazy IPA. Untappd called this “Crisp, refreshing, and full of tropical fruitiness, this Kolsch is the perfect companion for a bright, sunny day!”
Poured a straw-to-pale yellow clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of fizzy off-white head. Could see a regular amount of bubbles coming up along the sides and bottom of the glass at different speeds. Very good foggy lacing on the sides of the glass. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled pear, apple, kiwi, grape, apricot, nectarine, mango, grass, citrus, light bready malt and hits of herbal. About as good from the bottle. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted even a little better than the nose. Apricot jumped out, followed by peach, nectarine, pear, kiwi, apple, grape, mango, citrus, grass, light bready malt, hints of herbal and some lingering peppery spice. (Taste - 4.00)
Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Surprisingly very good overall. Would have more of these for sure. (Overall - 3.75)

Pale yellow with a 1/2" white head, which dissipates. Light lacing.
Aroma of lemon grass, bread.
Taste is lemony, biscuity, slight tartness.
Thin body, light carbonation. Dry finish.
A nice thirst quenching Kolsch.

Found in the "Spring Forward" Pack. Best by July.
L: 3.75. Pale in coloration with some small particulate haze. Ample carbonation. Looks like a solid kolsch or keller.
S: 4. Surprisingly complex. Fruity and muted bready malt. Perhaps a tinge of hop greenery
T: 3.25. a tad watered down, but it has a nice malty character to it with bright, estery, fruity flavors accompanying.
F: 3.75. Thin mouthfeel. Lager like.
O: 3.75. Solid variety pack beer. Great for outdoor hangouts.
