Track 7, Oak Park, Bike Dog is a good start!

Mraz, New Helvitica, Knee Deep, Auburn Ale house also solid or further out...

I might be a bit late for you, but Yolo brewery is super close to Bike Dog......A solid one-two punch, for me anyway. Like reefer_bob mentioned, Track 7 should be right up there.

Jack Rabbit is also next to Bike Dog and they are making some solid classic English styles.

This I did not know......Thank you for passing it along. Who knew that West Sacramento would now have three breweries.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. Three breweries and all pretty much a block apart.

Distribution (bottle) absolutely sucks up here ....

So many people say " o Cali has the best beer, brah, dude!!!!!!!"

Coming from Chicago; Sacramento beer selection is hilariously awful . If not for lagunitas, I think this might be the worst spot for beer stores in the entire country...

Breweries are good around here yea, but what about if I want something other than an IPA? With the exception of aforementioned jack rabbit brewing , apparently the breweries around here are unable to make styles that aren't simply hoppy. There is zero creativity around.
The nearby store literally has probably 25 different six packs that are all IPA or hoppy. None of any other style . I think I could be a billionaire if I made a decent stout or even a brown ale or something other than a frickin IPA.

Logsdon is honesty probably the best brewery that distributes here....

Don't worry about it Nittybeat, there are more than enough breweries and shops around to keep things interesting. Check out the links above and do a quick search in this forum (sorry but I don't have time this morning). So many types great beer being brewed in the Sac area alone, not to mention Northern California (RR, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Bear Republic, etc, etc).

Yeah, don't take that post too seriously. After all he claims that all we have are hoppy beers, but Lagunitas is our saving grace:stuck_out_tongue: It's just an opinion and differs from mine greatly.

If you're looking for bottles Davis is a short 15-20 minute drive away and the Davis Beer Shop is absolutely amazing with their bottle selection. You can even have a beer on draft while you're there.

Love those Rare Barrel hoppy beers, Track 7 is a hop Mecca, Mraz has the market cornered on hops, fifty Fifty is well known for the hop forward beers.......well that is just my opinion.

lol it's not an opinion once one actually visits a Chicago area shop and compares for themselves.

There is nothing distributed here that isn't in Chicago

Knee deep has decided their beer is only good enough for $9 bombers? Get real.

Rare barrel does not distribute to Sacramento .
Track 7 is all hops, yes. Well, there good beers are all hops. It's kinda pitiful when you push the living crap out of a peanut butter porter that even aspiring beer geek say, "meh" to.

Fifty fifty? Ok, now I'm thinking your bad at sarcasm or just tryin be funny.
lol fifty fifty may as well be called shock top where I'm from. 30$ bombers!?! They must be good! Pappy!! Lol, one sip of a bcbs and fifty fifty is a joke.
Mraz does beers that are not happy, your right, I was wrong for not naming them. However, just making stuff other than IPA is not what I'm wanting.... The stuff has to actually be good.... Their highest rated beers are all
IPA/DIPA . the stuff that isn't hoppy has so so ratings. With exception of coffee pot porter .

Yeah, I second Jackrabbit. I was visiting Sacramento last month, went to the Rind in Midtown. They had Jackrabbit on tap and tried their Monk Belly, a dubbel. Before that time, I did not know of them. It was a solid beer.

There was a poll awhile back about who got the best distro, and I picked honestly...IL. I think the bottled/canned distro in CA is much better in Socal/SD, but there are definitely a large number of shortcomings in Sac. This was really obvious on a recent trip to OR. Locals may be able to offer some better suggestions if they know what styles in particular you're seeking. And I'd recommend you make the drive to Davis and check out the Beer Shoppe and chat with Taylor, he should be able to get you hooked up with some stuff (caveat, some of the truly more obscure/rare may be only a draft/tasting offering). If you do find yourself traveling North, check out Fall River at their tasting room in Redding, they've got a solid porter and a damn good BB coffee stout.
