Thanks for the suggestions, @doktorhops and @WTKeene. I'll check them out if I get the chance.

My findings, based on a modest survey of readily-available brands, are as follows: (a) Clausthaler seems to provide the most satisfaction in the hops department, but lacks body; (b) Kaliber offers good body, and malty flavor, but lacks hop character; (c) A sort of 'black and tan' made with Clausthaler and Kaliber is better than either, and approximates a decent beer more closely than any off-the-shelf NA that I've tried; (d) Beck's NA is an acceptable substitute for Clausthaler, and - since it's available at my local General Store - it's my default option for beer-like refreshment when alcohol isn't appropriate.

I've tried a few but have not been impressed. Alcohol is an essential part of beer. When I don't want alcohol, I am fine with tonic water. The French food critic Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin once wrote that "A dessert without cheese is like a beautiful woman with only one eye." Beer without alcohol is like a dessert without cheese.

    Bitburger Drive.

My wife has been pregnant twice in the last year and a half and this was her favorite. Actually 0% and has hops rather than just syrupy bullshit like the others we tried.

Some friends and I cracked a Coors NA at a tasting over the summer. Surprisingly it wasn't too bad. It was sweet, but I liked the flavor of it.

Ein-Becker NA. My friends tricked me the first time I tried it. I thought it was a normal Pilsner, had no idea it was non-alcoholic. It's way too expensive though, about $12 for a six pack!

Is there a hopped cold brew that does have a decent balance?

I'm not sure, this was honestly just bitter coffee. Not like the coffee IPA I was expecting.
