I grabbed this beer after @TongoRad 's post about it many moons ago. TongoRad - I don't think I ever told you if I liked it or not. I didn't get some of the specific odors you got... I'll leave it at that. Should I have been disappointed? I wasn't. I thought it was a really tasty... and let's say "earthy" or "musty" beer. Delicious! Very glad I had it, but too pricey for a repeat.

@TongoRad and @cavedave , I just read cavedave's review. Even though you (cavedave) really liked the beer, I see how you found it to be flirting with disaster. Seems like all three of us had some similar reactions... but personally, I found nothing off-putting about it at all. Is my tolerance for the gutter really high?

I have a couple bottles tucked away in hopes that they somehow improve. I can't imagine the brewery intended for it to taste the way it did.

Love this beer. My favorite pumpkin beer by leaps and bounds.

I have to agree with whoever said Kelpie, that's definitely the weirdest one I've had. By comparison, Rauchbier is pleasant.

Also every single Scotch Ale I've tried has tasted like caramel syrup. If you can find an unaged one, you should be able to replicate the experience.

That's not a beer. That's kvass. It's completely different, barely alcoholic, and delicious.

    Founders - Mango Magnifico.

Possibly the worst beer I've ever had. Scratch that, definitely the worst beer I've ever had. Tastes like mango cough syrup. Coats your mouth and takes a few hours to get any residual flavor out.

Flying dog mint Julip ale just came out and tastes just as awful as you'd think.

I had about the same reaction to Red Swingline. After getting past/adjusting to the smell, it was enjoyable. "Flirting with disaster" ? Yeah that's it! Any deviation, & it might have been drain-pour, but it was that squirrel with 3 black walnuts, that didn't fall off the wire into traffic.

I enjoyed on of those in a wharf pub on a foggy afternoon. Perhaps I was tasting the sky.

I see these brown paper bags at trader joes in Boston. 8.99 for a trader grab bag. Anything inside must be god awful, never bought one personally

I think I even have a bottle of that in the basement from a trade that fell through.

Adelscott is nasty, if they still make it. It's like taking a peat moss flowerpot and sucking a Bud Light through it.

Crap, and I just bought one last weekend that I was hoping to have in a couple of days. Maybe aging it will help? Opinions?
