-> Poll #4 <- determined that the Main Base Malt will be North American 2-Row Brewer's Malt, which joins Flaked Oats as definitely IN.

This poll (and possibly the next) will determine what type(s) of Crystal Malt(s) advance to a future combination poll (along with Wheat Malt and Honey Malt). It's a lot of polls, but it's all about context, i.e. choosing malts in context with other malt choices.

You can select more than one choice. The #1 overall choice will automatically advance to the main combo poll. Beyond that, any other choices that get votes from at least 30% of respondents will advance to another poll to determine exact combinations that advance. Want something that's not listed? Write it in. If your first choice is losing badly, consider jumping to a similar choice that has more votes.

I recommend you think about this in terms of not only your personal preferences, but also in the context of the ABV and Final Gravity (and thus the attenuation) already selected, grains already selected, and grains still possible, as well as any possible yeast strain selection that might be kicking around in your head.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

If you have issues with or suggestions for methodologies used in this project, please send them via beermail. Let's keep the threads themselves on topic to the question at hand and not about how you would have asked the question differently.

(This is the fourth Averagely Perfect project. If you don't know what these are about, see the genesis of the first one here... http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/the-averagely-perfect-american-ipa-project.59552/ and subsequent polls. Or do a search on Averagely Perfect American IPA, Averagely Perfect American Stout, or Averagely Perfect Saison.)

Lol. You'll get a chance to vote crystal out in the combo poll. For now, something in the C-family will advance to that poll, because it surpassed the threshold in poll #3.

I was abstaining since I didnt particularly care for any of those, but I threw my vote behind GNO. It would lend an interesting flavor component, especially if the yeast we eventually get to lends a peachy/fruity component.

I have never done/had a NEIPA, but I mentioned GNOs before because I was hoping some more experienced people would consider them. It seems like GNOs would work well from both a flavor and body point of view for this style and I like what they bring for "normal" APA/IPAs.

I will say that I think carapils sucks and I don't understand why it is used so often.

I think that I will follow along from this point and not "taint" the vote

carapils is good in small amount for added head retention imo. I would never replace crystal completely with it, but would rather use it as a compliment
