Dude, it's Diabeetus in a glass!! If enough people tried it, it would rank top 3 of the top 250 beers

Stout is porter. There is no difference. Stout is merely a modifier used arbitrarily by the brewer.

Stone IRS is way up there in terms of no-nonsense, huge bang-for-your-buck stouts. So good.

Haha I was actually thinking about that beer tonight. Good call.

I wouldn't have thought to say it until I finally got to try it, since I'm not a gigantic fan of the regular stout trooper, but BA stout trooper was spectacular last year. Victory Java cask and wicked weed dark age are excellent too. Loving the 16 oz 4 packs of even more Jesus. Love dark truth from boulevard (can't wait for it to see regular distro to CT).

Exactly. I believe "stout" was originally used to refer to strong porters. Victory at Sea's pretty frickin strong... stronger than many of the stouts listed here.

For me Birthday was just OK, not as good as Regular or Pirate, but at least better than Christmas.

I would agree, although I typically find beers designated as porters to be much thinner.

Barrel-Aged Vietnamese Speedway.. This beer gets no love. No reason why it shouldn't command the same value as BA Abraxas or DB Huna, especially these days.

I love Mexican Cake and Hammerhead Speedway. Also Kane stouts are incredible - love the Port Omna and its variants. Peche Mortel and Aphrodisaque by Dieu du Ciel are pretty top notch too. Plus several have mentioned and it's easy to find, but good Ole Raspy always pleases.

Late to the party on this one, but Abyss is it for me. I know it catches a lot of flak some years but I <3 it.

If you can find it, I suggest trying it either alone or with something sweet, like an actual s'more haha. It was vanillay and did taste like a marshmallow if you sit there and judge it.

Since you live in Mass. if you haven't tried Lechedor En Fuego (BBA) by Clown Shoes I would try it. I still see it at multiple stores in RI/MA.

I can enjoy Clown Shoes and most of their offerings everyday and all day long. Not a stout but Flight of the Angry Beast is a regular buy for me. Founders is also on my list of must buy stouts.

+1 for Old Rasputin and Victory at Sea - love these

A difficult tie between Three Floyds' Moloko Milk Stout and Wigsplitter Coffee Stout. Probably the latter though since I'm now lactose intolerant :/

Haven't gotten into much stouts in general, but always open to trying other ones.

I have to throw another one out there. Just had the Old Dominion Oak Barrel Stout. I was totally impressed with not only the taste, but the mouthfeel for a 5.5% beer. Someone gave me a wine shipment as a gift and I have been splitting it with them, but I might go rogue on this one and keep all of them.

Goose Island BCBS is godly (as we all know), but unfortunately you can only get it once a year; if I could, I'd be drinking that bad boy at least once a week. Definitely try to scout this one out in a trade if you can (or wait until next year, because I seriously doubt any bottle shops will still have it).

I've also had the Aztec Chocolate and Coconut variants of the Boulevard Imperial Stout X beer, and they're both excellent. Sadly, the Aztec Chocolate variant is retired, but the Coconut version is still out there so you can probably find it if you look around.

8 Maids-A-Milking from The Bruery is really good too, but it's highly underrated IMO so don't pay any attention to the score of 85 that it has on here.

Lastly, the Black Damnation stouts from De Struise are pretty fucking awesome, or at least the I and the XII are (those are the only two that I've had). But beware of the price...these bottles are priced at around $48 a pop where I live.
