I've had BCBS on tap and in bottles a number of times in my first year of craft, and while it is great I have realized that there are many other BBS's that are very nearly as good, or in some cases subjectively better, easier to get, and cheaper. I would discourage seeking any more bottles of 2015 BCBS this year, either in stores or in trade due to the significant reports of infection. Many folks have been drinking through their stock and reporting quite a few are infected. Tap is probably safe since you would expect the taproom staff will try it before serving,

Clown Shoes definitely puts out some decent Imperial Stouts. One of my faves from them is Porcine Unidragon, but not sure if it is available anymore. Blaecorn Unidragon had less chocolate, but probably because Porcine was a double.

Cannot believe I have not had any of these beers. Was never a big fan of Evil Twin, but they did it right with Bourbon Biscotti Break and Pappy Jesus. I think you can still find Bourbon Biscotti Break on shelves too.

Try on the BCBS. You can never have enough. The 500 ml format was a little bit much for what I typically want in a weekday sitting, but can't let it go to waste. Black Damnation was tasty, but it's hard to justify drinking the 750 ml versus half a case of BCBS.

Definitely agree. Unfortunate about this year's batches. I have about a case of infected barleywine left and a quarter of a case of coffee was infected. Luckily drank most of them fresh, so enjoyed some goodness. To @pattycakes8401, I would drink any of the previous vintages of BCBS any day of the week.

    My favorite 8> ABV:
Prairie Bomb (let this puppy warm up a bit.. it'll go to another level)
Ten Fidy (top of the food chain)
Victory At Sea (yea, it's labeled a porter, but it kicks like a stout)

    My favorite <8 ABV:
Bell's Kalamazoo (consistent complexity, and overall favorite)
Youngs Double Chocolate (low ABV and high taste value.. more more more)
Dominion Oak Barrel (the low ABV doesn't equate to low taste)

    Hope you enjoy your adventure!

BA Biscotti is really good but I enjoy DBJ alot more. Haven't had the chance to try Pappy Jesus yet.

Porcine was great, but I believe it has been retired. Have not seen it in years. One of the smoothest so BBA stouts.

    Some of my favorites:
    Mean Old Tom
    Ipswich oatmeal stout
    Founder's imperial stout

I LOVE the Dosvidanya after it has about a year to cool down. I order cases when my local bottleshop is having their 'craft case sale'. Another love the beer/hate the price for me is the Eclipse series - they are sooooo good!

Other notable stouts in my book: Three Floyds Blot Out the Sun, Dark Horse Bourbon Barrel Plead the 5th, Cigar City Café Americano, Sun King Bourbon Barrel Timmie, Straight to Ale Laika, Peche Mortel, Prairie Bomb, BA Monster's Park w/ Coffee, Avery Tweak, Central Waters Brewers Reserve series, Fremont BBA Abominable w/ Coffee and Cinnamon, and (of course) Bruery stouts.

Haha sometimes I forget how long I've been drinking craft beer. Especially if I count the years I thought Sam Adams and/or Amstel Light was craft...

YESSSSSS stocked up BBpt5, MILF, and Prairie Pirate/Bomb. Wish I could get me more Fremont Abominable. Guess I'll have to wait until I head out to Seattle (if it is on shelves).

Yes, the reports of infected bottles of 2015 BCBS should probably be enough to discourage people from seeking it out; but the fact of the matter is that if you don't have an infected bottle, then BCBS is easily one of the greatest stouts (at least from what I've tried anyway).

Problem is, you won't know if it is infected until you try it. I suppose that if someone has a case, and one or more were recently drank and were fine, then chances are pretty good the rest are - at least for awhile - and could be traded. Still possible that the bottles in a case came from two different kegs, one of which was problematic. I wouldn't trade for a 2015 at this point, I'd wait for a 2016 which will probably be pasteurized.

What do people think about AB Mex Cake? Would like to hear from people who have tried or know people who have tried it.

Heavens court, from devils trumpet brewing. It was one of the better ba stout I have had in a long time, it may not hang in with the mega whales but definitely worth seeking out. It was was released recently, so should be trade-able

Courage Stout, Bells Expedition, FIS, Old Raspy, Siberian Night, and Blackout stout are some of my favorite regular stouts

Great Basin Scytale 385...recommended to me by a regular trader. I was honestly VERY surprised. It is just a solid barrel aged stout. Very well done. I highly recommend it.
