    Richmond folks,

Planning to make the trip up tomorrow for this release. Was curious if anyone has insight into how The Answer handles a release like this - early lines, wristbands and the like, or pretty mellow roll-in and roll-out. Any insight appreciated as I plan the trip. Thanks!

I don't have much insight on this year but for last year's Good Night, Mekong you showed your ID at the door and they gave you a wristband which in turn was your ticket to purchase bottles. I assume it would be similar this year

Since the CCB guest taps, other than Good Nighmare, will not be tapping until 4pm I think if you showed up earlier in the day to grab bottles then it would not be too busy with people still at work as well as many probably waiting until closer to the guest taps tapping. If I were able to make it down for it then I would personally grab bottles early, and then head around the front to Mekong and possibly a couple others breweries that open earlier in the day. Then come back closer to 4 for the guest taps. I don't recall all of the breweries that open early on Fri afternoons.

Is this expected to sell out on Friday? I'll be driving through on Monday and would love to snag a bottle.

I would think the chances are good. Many locals have blown through their paychecks this week with the Veil cans and Summer Fest tix. With the festival Saturday at DBB I expect a lot of the people (Richmonders and others who may normally come to town on a weekend) end up going there. So the geeks will be spread thinner than normal. And $22/bottle is steep for many to max out their 4pp limit I would expect.

Not sure this beer needs a plug, but I will say that it is worlds better than the Good Night from last year, which I thought was good but nothing special. Nightmare is fantastic.

We Virginians LOVE some coconut added to beer, especially stouts and quads! :sunglasses:

I've already seen posts this morning in groups about people on their way to line up, which is completely crazy. Even some locals. Hopefully they are just trolling. There's no need to get in line 2 hours or even an hour early. After opening will work just fine. They have enough. Anyone who is worried just setup perch inside Mekong for lunch and then head around back when The Answer opens.

I'll be at the release as a volunteer, and there's really no reason to line up early for bottles unless you're from out of town and wanted to rush over to Veil after to stand in line for Forever Summer tickets. They are likely to go quickly today with the amount of people in town going to the Good Nightmare release. And yes, they have a lot of bottles, probably enough for over 600 (or more) to max out at the 4 bottle limit.

Coming down from DC and will probably arrive around 5:15. Sounds like bottles stop selling at 4, but I should be able to try it, Huna, and others on tap?

Have no clue what they will do if they don't sell out of bottles once 4 comes around. But yeah, the rest of the CCB beers hit the taps at 4. Think they only have like a keg of each though, so likely to go quickly.

I completely overlooked the time (not like it was in all caps or anything!) of them stopping bottle sales at 4pm. Interesting and a bit odd at the same time. I can sort of see why and them not wanting to take away from the CCB taps plus also how crazy it is going to be with that and trying to make sure people don't end up purchasing more than the limit but stopping sales all together not even half way through the business hours is like when someone walks into a restaurant 15 minutes before close and staff turns away their $$ because they have already done most of their cleanup work.

Just saw a picture someone posted of the line. Looks like there are quite a few lined up (40ish someone said). Also sounds like there is a cash only line as well as credit with cash being the shorter one so bring that $$$ if you can to save time.

EDIT (11:30am): Just saw another picture and it looks like NASCAR. 3-4 wide on the line so probably a little higher than 40ish at this point.

Someone who is working/volunteering (I think) at the release just posted there are 45 cases left and An will keep the sales going until they sell out even if it's after 4pm.

weird, I don't remember any of that happening last year. we showed up, went to the bar, ordered drinks/food and bottles together then just hung around enjoying. no wristband/tix/anything.there was a bottle only line but if you ordered drinks/food too you could order bottles then at the bar without having to wait in the line.

I did not go last year. Went back to look at the fb event from last year and it had those details so maybe that did not actually happen. Just what they posted.

The Answer is releasing another round of bottles on Black Friday (11/25) along a couple of their stouts returning on draft (no fills)

Friday November 25th, we're doing a second release of Good Nightmare Mekong!
Brewed in collaboration with Cigar City Brewing, GNM is an imperial stout brewed with Vietnamese coffee and vanilla, then treated with coconut and cinnamon. The coffee was hand-selected and roasted by Master Roaster, Mike Jarrett, of Iron Clad Coffee Roasters located right here in RVA.

***Bottle sales will begin at 12pm.
    ***2 bottle limit per person

In addition, we'll be tapping 2 other stouts brewed by yours truly, including:

Enta Da Stage-Imperial stout aged in Willett bourbon barrels. Brewed in collaboration with Jackie O's Pub & Brewery.
    &
    Broken Bird-Imperial Stout w/ Coconut
^^No Crowler/Growler fills on these brews

An aged coffee beer does not sound appealing.

It was very good fresh, though.
