Totally makes sense. Younger folks are trying to find their favorite beer, older fans like me (>65) know what they like and have no need to use BeerAdvocate for help. Also, when I was in my prime beer finding age, there were few choices available in the U.S. anyway. We used to have to drive halfway across the country just to get a can of Coors.

^^ I remember those days while I am not sure why one would drive any distance for a can of Coors !

Don't worry! Coming from someone who has been a Cat 4 for years, it gets better. I say "Claim It!". You're in good company!

    3 pages is nothin'.

There's some threads that can go 100+ pages long I think.

I've lost a lot of family and friends and that sucks. I've, more than once toasted one of them with a beer that I enjoyed. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has done that.

You're not. My dads preferred swill was Carling Black Label.:grinning: Every now and then, I pick up some to remember him by. Here's to you, Dad! :beers:

My aunt was a beer drinker, and I home-brewed a beer for her 90th birthday party that she really liked. A year or two later I brewed that same beer again because I liked it too. My aunt passed shortly after I brewed the beer, and I still had some fresh bottles so I put one in her casket (with the approval of the undertaker) so that she'd have something to toast me back. RIP, Aunt 'Mutz.'

The nice thing about statistics is that it can disabuse one of erroneous assumptions.

If asked to guess, I would have placed the median age of all BAs at about 45. I can see that is waaaay off.

Any thoughts about looking at ages of users who spend a considerable time on the site? For example, look at ages indexed to the number of forum posts or the number of beer reviews, etc.?

Nice thought. A 90 year old lady beer drinker? I would've liked her. This reminds me, one of my moms closest friends was named Hazel Brown. A few years back, I found a bottle of Hazel Brown, by Sam Adams I believe. I put a note on it that said "Wish you were here to share it with me." and put it on her tombstone.

Should be same (2004 of membership) but they deleted my account after it went dormant for a bit around 2008-2009... so disappointing to lose all those entries.

Yeah. Back in the day, we purged inactive accounts. It was after several years though and we sent reminders to log in.

Age is just a number, but I will say that I have been drinking and interested in craft beer for longer than most of the people in the youngest category above. Certainly more than just something for just the youngsters (who seem to have gotten on board especially say, in the last 15 years or so). Beer. It's good for all ages!
