Fresh Hop 2020

Crux is canning a hazy FH ipa called Sabro today.

 

Hope it's better than Pert Near. Most everything else I've had from them has been good, so I'm not giving up hope.

 

Same though I'm not sure I've enjoyed any all sabro ipas. Creates some weird flavors that I associate with key lime pie. This could be different fresh (also not sure if this is 100% sabro)

 

I'm relieved they're only doing three packaged FH beers, cuts down on how much I spend and the number of times I keep running back to the Mercantile.

 

Found an article that it says it has both fresh sabro and fresh strata.

 

Just opened a can of Ace of Spades Fresh Hop, another beer that had thus far evaded the BA database. Pretty standard West Coast IPA fare, which is just fine with me.

From the Hopworks website:

Actually, not sure where you're located, but I think Central Market Shoreline might also have had this one (saw it Saturday after I'd already made the trek over to Beer Junction).

Beer Junction also has Hopworks Fresh Hop Singing Bird. I picked up one can of that too but haven't tried it yet.

 

I live in Renton. West Seattle's not unreasonable for me. Definitely more convenient than Shoreline.

 

I had a pale ale with fresh Sabro hops at the Hood River Fresh Hop Festival a couple years ago, and it tasted a lot like coconut. But your key lime pie comparison is a good one.

They had run out by the time I got there at about 6:00 on Friday. Super Deli Mart got some that I also missed out on. Ace of Spades was one of my favorite beers 10 years ago and I'd love to try the fresh hop version but it may already be too late.

Just opened a Fresh Hop Singing Bird from Hopworks. This one has that juicy, citrusy aroma and flavor I've been craving from a fresh hop. Grab some if you see it.

I think I'm heading down there to get a growler. It's a big bet...but it's a Georgetown fresh hop.

I might stop at Full Throttle Bottles and see if they have anything interesting there...

 

Just grabbed some Strata and Centennial fresh hop cans from Stoup. Haven't cracked them open just yet as the Whole30 has started and no drinking on school nights.

 

Georgetown's Hulka Fresh Hop IPA is not in-your-face hop resin, but it's a nice balanced IPA with a clear and lovely fresh hop theme.

That was the only fresh hop on tap at Georgetown. I did go to Full Throttle Bottles, and aside from various non-fresh-hop stuff, I saw and/or bought the following fresh hops:

• Occidental Fresh Hop Pilsner
• Matchless Stratafresh
• Fort George Fresh IPA
• Crux Pert Near (passed)
• Two Beers Fresh Hop (passed, though not sure if that was a good idea or not)

They also still have Fremont's 11th anniversary stout (which is heavenly) and surprised me by having a few bottles of De Garre (which is heavenly for very different reasons)
