Have a few new-to-me offerings I'll try to get to in the next couple of days.
First up, a real nice sour from Denver, CO.

    12 ounce can packaged 6/3/24.

Moderate pour yields a 5/8 inch very very light pink head over a bright, pinkish-orange body with no lacing.

Nose of raspberries and blueberries with a bit of citrus.

Taste is raspberries and blueberries, sweet and sour, not too sweet and not too sour.
    Delicious!

Mouthfeel is less than I had hoped but it is what it is with low to medium carbonation.

Overall, I would recommend to any and all sour beer aficionados and I will be having a second one with dinner.

    Cheers!!

Back home now, but still on the BeerClub bandwagon.

Doppel Bock - BeerClub Brewing - Mora, MN - 8%

The aroma is lacking, but the flavor sure as hell isn't. So malty good. Lots of caramel and cola. Delicious.

From a 16oz can purchased at the brewery earlier in the day. Canned on 8-8-24.
This beer pours somewhere between a brown and amber color. Slight clarity to it. There's a 2 finger tan head that has decent retention and some lacing on the glass.
Faint hint of roasted caramel malts on the nose. Surprisingly light aroma for the beer.
Taste - the flavor is quite strong. There's a ton of caramel malts here. Slightly roasted. There's a hint of cola in the flavor. Very malty flavor.
The body is decent fullness. Very smooth feeling.
Very tasty beer, and one I would gladly buy again.

Might have one more in me this NBW. Cheers!

    Good evening NBW
I was hoping to cross paths with this one while it was still fresh. Mission accomplished.

    Old Peculier
14.9oz can BBE 31/01/2025 poured into a mug at just above fridge temp 5.6% ABV. The beer pours bright light brown, darkish amber with beautiful garnet highlights and khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with rich malt, dark fruit jam and brown sugar. The taste is semisweet toasted malt with tart cherry jam and molasses. Mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with light carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, superb and I'm not able to adequately describe the simple perfection of this beer.

I can absolutely guarantee that the other three beers in this pack will be savored with a Scotch sidecar in quiet moments over the coming months. Cheers all!

Revolution Brewing Double Barrel VSOD. An imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. Courtesy of @ChicagoJ. On the twilight of a beautiful New Beer Sunday, this beer summoned me. The look is a black hole in time and space. There was no foam. The smell is all-consuming. Fudge and marshmallow, with carmel and bourbon tagging in for the finish. The taste is electric. Fudge explodes upon your senses, but select bourbon is right there to ensure its presence is felt. Marshmallow and graham cracker smores emerge from the darkness, in a poetic manner. This is perfection. This is art. The mouthfeel is silky, smooth, and rich. Just perfect. There might not be a better barrel-aged stout. Thank you, @ChicagoJ! This is a masterpiece, and I picked the most perfect time to experience it!

One more beer for the weekend.
Bohemian Pilsner- BeerClub Brewing- Mora, MN - 5.5%

I tried a sip of my friend's beer at the brewery. It seemed a bit more smoky on tap than in the can. Either way, this is delicious. For my fellow Minnesota BAs, I highly recommend a trip to Mora, and BeerClub Brewing.

From a 16oz can purchased at the brewery earlier in the day. Dated 7-30-24
This is a clear golden pouring beer. There's a great stream of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. The head is a thick 3 finger white color. Frothy looking and has great retention. There's a bit of lacing on the glass.
The aroma has a bit of malt on it as well as a hint of smoke. From the can it both seem lighter than on tap, when I was sniffing my friend's glass.
Taste - the flavor has a great hit of smoke up front, but not as intense as a smoked beer. There's a great hit of cereal grain flavor in here. Slight sweetness on the way back.
Very full bodied for the style. Very smooth. The feeling from the malts and smoke linger.
This is delicious, though, the tap is better still from the tiny sip I had on tap.

Farewell to the new beer weekend. Cheers to the fellow patrons of the virtual bar.

One more new beer for the weekend.
More exciting than the beer is the 1987 Spuds McKenzie in a Christmas sweater glass I found over the weekend...

    Goodwood Louisville Lager

12oz undated can poured into a pint glass at fridge temp 4.2% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright golden amber with nearly white head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and single layer of bubbles. Aroma is nearly nothing with just a hint of grain. The taste is semisweet and tart corn juice with just a hint of pale malt and earthy hop flavor. Minimal bitterness. Thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, ok lager.

    Cheers all!

    Asahi — Super Dry

I was intrigued by Nate Lanier's recent video review of Japanese Lagers, so I picked up a four-pack of relatively fresh Asahi Super Dry at Japan Village here in Brooklyn. Curiously, the beer is a product of Italy...

The appearance is a clean yellow beer, with a light head.

The nose is of malt, and bread, with a touch of hops. No floral sweetness of a typical rice lager.

The taste is crisp, with bready malt, and hops.

The mouthfeel is a light, smooth, balanced beer.

Overall, it is a refreshing beer, resembling a good German lager.

Always been curious of both this and Sapporo, have yet to try either one. I’ll add it to the list of beers NBW has inspired me to eventually try. I will eventually get around to this one.

    14.9% Wee heavy by Revolution
    [IMG]

Poured from a twelve ounce can, the body is a dark brown. Momentary head then dispersal to glass edge and just a wee ring there. No lacing.

This monster is an over the top wee heavy with huge aroma and flavors: toffee, maple, figs, and a lightly smoky caramel. There's no subtlety here. It's a sledgehammer of flavor. Heavy mouthfeel and medium (at best) carbonation.

The barrel is present but it's not harsh. If anything, more barrel would be great to help moderate the sweetness. Having said that much, I enjoyed dipping and savoring this beer.

Less than exciting, but I always have to try these Chelada concoctions. This is Modelo Chelada Negra con Chile made with their dark Lager.

Pleasant tomato aroma with a nose of what might be chiles. Coarse and prickly on the tongue with the heat rising. This actually tastes better after sipping a while, even warming up some. The tomato taste is clear but it does get overly hot. The beer taste is well hidden. I wonder if you should shake the stuff a little before using-- it gets hotter and hotter toward the bottom. I was going to say this is the worst Chelada I've had, but I've sipped and sipped and actually drank more than half the tall can.

    Tutto Pils

    5% by Troubles End Brewing

Poured from twelve ounce can, the body is an American with white head. Not much lacing.

Taste is sweet malt, but nothing approaching cloying. A slight earthy hop flavor but nothing approaching bitter. Things dry up fairly quickly.

Mouthfeel has s light with medium carbonation.

    Easy drinking pils.

Another bit of NBW BIF#18 LIF beer action form @Whyteboar This was not anywhere near my wheelhouse. I certainly liked it less than everyone else

Trail Brewing Co. Perk Ya Later Coffee Cream Ale, 4.2% ABV; 3.14 overall

Pours an effervescent & bright gold with a pinky of cream-colored head. Traces of head retention & lacing

S: Vanilla, caramel & coffee, all tail off as this warms, maybe for the better?

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry up front. More of the same as this beer warms up, vanilla cream & dryness with a hint of coffee. Finishes dry, too sweet & with a little coffee flavored candy

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation, skews too sweet for my liking

Sweetness wrecks this for me; it is a hard sell to get me to like a lighter colored beer with coffee This one also falls short

Good evening all still here, had this during my weekly online gaming session and it was a beaut.
Not even sure if it’s the database yet, but it soon will be. Sent to me by Der Wondrous @WunderLlama in return fire for a perfectly appropriate box of beer.
I seldom know exactly what to expect when opening a beer from Tree House, but I know I’m going to enjoy it, and this was no exception.
The pour is hazy, not just unfiltered or cloudy, this is opaque haze.
The taste is a melange of mostly citrus fruit, at least the pithy part. There is pineapple and I think mango in the mix as well, and it’s not “juicy”. It’s almost dry, but full of fruit flavors. Sadly, I finished it before I could dial it in better, sometimes a pint just isn’t enough.
The feel is so much lighter than I expected from the appearance, not crisp by any means, but not chewy or thicc either. Just light and soft. Way too easy quaffing.
    Good beer!

Very nice busy beer and banter NBW, even with minimal BIF selections!

Didn't get a chance to catch up with the thread until now. A couple closing comments / replies before this gets locked.
    • @LeRose @Whyteboar - Agreed on Allagash and other solid to great breweries which expand their initial line to draw in a wider audience. I still stick with their classics, and really want to hit Allagash and other Portland breweries in the future. Breweries here like Une Annee have done the same with their Hubbard's Cave line, but I mostly stick with their tried and true Belgians and Wild Ales.
    • @DoctorZombies - Glad you enjoyed the Life Jacket. I thought it held up well my last can, and it's hard to find you new beers to tick because you reach out via Tavour and through shares and such and pick up a lot broader range of beers than I can or have access to here.
    • @Blogjackets - I have Sixteen Shots in Munich lined up for next week, your BA offerings are lined up for after my Vegas trip to clear all the drink fresh style beers first.
    • @Victory_Sabre1973 - I think you set the New Beer Sunday rating record, definitely the N/A record. What an excellent day!
    • @Premo88 - MacLeod and Smog City were the two breweries which I tried to visit last trip but didn't get to. Thanks for your review, and definitely have to target next trip to LA/OC.
    • Hopefully I can find that Theakston Old Pecurlier one day in Chicago or during travels @jkblr . The beer sounds awesome.
    • Glad you really enjoyed the Revolution DB V. S. O. D. @GreenBayBA ! Finally got a chance to get you a banger after all the great beers you have shared over the years.
