    Greetings all!
Tonight I have an ESB, a style I really enjoy and wish more were available. So when I saw this one at Horrocks I was tempted to just grab a six pack but the brewery made me only grab a single.
Unfortunately for me, my concern was well founded.
The pour is translucent copper with a half inch of manilla head that left sheets of lacing.
The taste is typical Three Floyd’s; hops reign supreme. It’s not even close to balanced.
The feel is about what is expected for the style, not thin and crisp but just a little fuller. Easy quaffing.
OA, not the ESB I was expecting, but it is still very tasty.
I will be back for at least one more.

    Cheers!

One month in the can pours beautifully mellow yellow murk with black hole properties, no light may enter or exit. Cottony head that fell away leaving a light sheen film up top, with sugar angel lacings down the glass. Aroma is sweet orange, strawberry , tropical fruit cocktail. Taste follows with a super appealing blue berry note, strawberry now and laters, hint of earthy dank. Sweet/ dank is a great ying/yang fenshua. Very delicious and with a name like Pure Oregon , I expected wcipa with gold rush specks from the days of ‘49!

Went in search of new beers at the closest brewery to my house, came up with:

    Mana Brewing French Saison
    [IMG]

Appearance: Clear gold, nice carbonation, small head.

    Smell: Light phenolic yeast aroma.

Taste: Mild fruitiness—grape and pear, then mild Belgian yeast flavor, some floral hop notes. Medium bodied.

Overall: I’m not a saison expert, but this is a decent beer. Gives a little funky flavor but is mostly forgettable.

    Good evening NBW
I've been a Two Hearted fan for quite some time, but never stumbled across this until now.

    Bell's Big Hearted IPA

12oz can stamped BBD: 16AUG26 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 9.5% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright light golden amber with light khaki head. The head recedes to a thick cap and leaves a web of lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring sweet citrus and berry. The taste is semisweet caramel malt with notes of berry, citrus and pine. Moderate plus bitterness. The feel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Lots of residual sugar and hop oils make this one a little sticky / chewy. The alcohol is noticeable, but does detract from the experience in my opinion. Overall, very good imperial IPA.

I just got a 6 pack of that today. I look forward to trying soon. I love micheladas and refrigerated pickles so I can see myself enjoying it. Haven't bought the grillos yet, but I see them on r/pickles all the time. A bit of a cult following among pickle enthusiasts.

Went to Aldi for groceries and some food. Got some low fat dairy and frozen fruit for smoothies. Will try a bit of a better balanced diet for the kidney stone, but I am sure I don't have to be too strict on it.

Went to the Total wine for NA beers. Guinness 0. Canned on 11/22/2025. Great amazing creamy head and cascading nitro pour as expected. Lasting lacing down the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, nuttiness, brown bread, light coffee/fruit/Irish yeast earthiness. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, nuttiness, brown bread/crust, charcoal, wood, peppercorn, pine, herbal, light fruit/Irish yeast earthiness. Medium pine, woody, roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Low carbonation and light-medium body; a fairly silky/grainy mouthfeel, with lingering char/resinous hop dryness, some remaining astringency. Smooth and fairly rich flavors. Tastes like a clean and well make dry stout. Not too yeasty or fruity, still feels like a Guinness from what I remember. 5/3.75/4/3.5/3.5: 3.85/5

Chilled 16oz can poured into a teku . Purchased at Tree house cape cod after refereeing some youth soccer matches on the Cape . The place has jammed . Paid $34 for a four pack

Hazy orange liquid , pencil thick white foam , good retention

Aroma is peachy , orange citrus , fruit salad , this is the best attribute

Taste is peach, pine, orange citrus

Mouthfeel is fizzy, boozy, no heat , semi dry finish . The 9.2% abv is noticeable . This is the least attribute.

Good beer…..bringing up my weekend abv average….

@superspak I really gotta try that Guiness NA, consistently seems to get high marks on here.

Grillo’s pickles are great, we don’t buy them enough but it’s always a treat. Almost like when you make quick pickles and give em a week two. Just fresh tasting goodness.

I'm loving the posts this weekend! Thanks to all of those that responded to my initial questions. It's super fun to hear who you share beer with. It's such a great part of being a craft beer fanatic.

OK, my last new beer for tonight. Stranger Souls from Barreled Souls in Maine. An imperial stout aged in Amburana barrels for 9 months. 14.7% ABV. This is my 50th beer for Barreled Souls!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very thick black with a thin layer of brown head. The nose is all amburana. This might be my favorite in a stout. Cinnamon, dark toffee, some vanilla.

The taste is really nice. The amburana is front and center, but there are definitely other things going on. Some brown sugar, bitter dark malts, coffee, maple, vanilla, and some molasses. Also getting a strong cola note. I've had a lot of stouts aged in amburana barrels, and I must say that this has a slightly odd note to it. It's not the smooth amburana taste. There is a sharp bitterness. Still really good though.

The mouthfeel is medium to thick bodied, with a nice cinnamon amburana aftertaste. I would say that this one falls somewhere in the middle of the pack for amburana stouts.

For a light beer, I found this to be flavorful...

I've had a lot of Sam Adams over the years, a lot. And though I didn't expect much out of this, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it actually was. Super clear and clean looking with a lightly wheaty scent to it. Mouthfeel is carbonated, leave an astringent feel to the tongue, but it's clean as well. The taste is way better than most other lights, and you can session the heck out of this. Another good offering from SA...

    “On Sunday’s we drink barleywines”

@Dimidiata used to post that most weekends and I rather miss it. Got me looking for new (to me at least) barleywines just for Sundays.

This is one of those. Many of you have tried it and most of you enjoyed it. I’m indifferent towards it. Thinking I must prefer non American barleywine.
This may be the poster child for the American Barley Wine category.
It pours old copper color with a beige head that leaves little lacing. Tracking so far.
The taste begins with citrus and plums, transitions to warm white bread and tobacco before ending with piney resinous notes at the end.
The feel is not quite viscous, but it has enough body to carry the load.
OA, it’s good, maybe better than good for many people. But I prefer a more balanced barley wine, so likely won’t be buying a lot of these.

That will do it for me tonight, but as this is a three day weekend, I’ll have more tomorrow.

    Cheers!

I love it when they age well! Actually the last Abyss I reviewed was the 2013 vintage. I was pretty gung ho with the nose but less so with the flavor. This Reserve you reviewed sounds like a different, albeit beautiful, creature.

One more-- Head Full of Fresh Hops (2025) from Fremont Brewing

Aroma of grass and citrus. There is a nice fruity taste pulsing on the tongue, but the rest of the taste buds are bending under the weight of the sensation of grape stems, plum skins, and lime peel. Overall this is very sharply fizzy and borderline acidic. It's also interesting and generally drinkable, and possibly summer quaff. If you like your Saisons on the tart side you'll like this. Dated 10/01/25. Hops: Krush, Mosaic Cyro, Mosaic, and Idaho 7 Cryo.
