Gold Stock from New England Brewing Company
    Growler filled yesterday afternoon
Look: almost no head even with a hard pour, but slight lacing on the glass. Murky appearance, slight orange color. I am assuming some of this is due to the growler. 3.25
Smell: bready malt and some citrusy hop. 4.25
Taste: citrus, resin, and a slight hint of malt character. A long lasting bittering and dry finish on the Back end. As the beer warms I get a very slight cherry flavor at the end as well. 4
Feel: great feel for an IPA. 4.5
Overall: it's a nice beer, but I prefer many of NEBCO's other offerings. A solid IPA. 4

    Happy NBS everyone.

I went pretty easy over the week, today is a day to put a dent in the beer fridge.

And I'm planning on most likely taking tomorrow off, the the snow is supposed to start falling any minute now.

Yeah, I agree. This was a miss for me too. Good marketing technique for Victory though. They migh stumble upon a great combination next release.

    New, Michigan Made, English Barleywine

Crummy weather in West MI. Gray skies, temps in the mid, then lower, 30s meant melting snow and rain changed into freezing rain. Glad I'm home for the night.

Having a great day despite the weather. Ran some errands in the morning, had some family time in the afternoon, relaxed with a new beer and US Soccer a little later.

It's a big, barrel-aged barleywine for the pseudo-10 year mark of NBS.

Had a Stone Milk Coffee Stout, it was okay. Now having a Ninkasi Wunderbier kolsch style, decent, nice and light with a good kolsch taste, both first timers for me.....

    520 NBS threads! Wow :grimacing:

Weighing in with this release from Great Divide...
    Barrel Aged Hibernation Ale
    [IMG] [IMG]

An old ale, it has some characteristics I've found in brown ales and English ales...
Suggestive of brown breads and biscuits, with dark fruits and chewy nut...
Herbal and warming with hints of vanilla sweetness and whiskey barrel wood...
A sipper, sure, but this is not a heavy-handed ale - rather slim and light actually...
Elegant, refined, and even delicate, perhaps a bit pricey (~$25 'round here)...
But you're getting what you pay for... :sunglasses:

    Cheers, NBS...

[IMG] [IMG] Sorry I'm late for my #3 posting on NBS. I work on Sundays and some are busier than others. I briefly thought about waiting until next week but wanted to honor the anniversary. Certain things should be celebrated....
Prepping for yes another snowstorm. Its going to be a tough act to follow the review of a tripel above but I've been saving this one. For a year actually (see bottle date). So technically this not a new beer since I tried last year but I decided to hold onto this for a year and see if it changed for the better......
Two Roads Rye 95 Rye Tripel Blonde Ale 9.5 % ABV.
A- pours a beautiful burnished gold/orange with a nice tan head that dissapears quickly to thin ring. Minimal lacing.
S- Wow the smell...I mean what smell. Time has not helped the aroma. Small amount of Belgian yeasty bubblegum, clove and then hops dankness believe it or not.
T- Beer is very different from the first time a year ago. Fruity esters, clove, banana have all calmed. The hops are now in the forefront and the brew has become better balanced for me. The Belgian and Hoppy characters have married well over time. Rye leave a nice peppery essence and there is a nice orange/ fruity mid palate.
M- highly carbonated, dry finish. Smooth easy drinking for a tripel.
O- Although I do enjoy a tripel from time to time its not my favorite style. When I first tried it leaned more to that style. Its not crazy good buts its certainly unique and I like that. Tastes more like a Belgian style IPA which is precisely what it is.
Probably lowest on my list from Two Roads last year- but I really haven't had anything I dislike from them.
Happy Anniversary, and thanks for the opportunity to share. Cheers!

What's happening NBS players. A bit on the warmer side here on the island today. Lots of snow and ice melting away but not enough. Another messy day looms for tomorrow. Spent the day getting plenty of shit done around the house and I'm now settling in for some beers and good tv shows- walking dead return and the bb spin off sol.

My new beer today is from Moustache Brewing here on long island. It's called Snugg, a barrel aged old ale, and it's their first bottle release. Really nice presentation with waxed cap. Aged in Bordeaux barrels with spices and it comes in at 10%. Bottle #194/255,

The pour yields a dark ruby amber color. The head carbs our quickly and no lacing at all. The nose is pretty cool and very floral. Lots of citrus fruit notes and spices. I got orange peel, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste continues from the nose. Very fruity up front with plenty of tang and spices. Mouth feel is decent with acidic carbonation. It has a very pronounced winter warmer feel and even some sour/wine qualities. The barrel is there but not overpowering at all. It really seems to give the spices a good back bone. One of the more out there brews I've tried in a while, and not in my normal beer style but I am enjoying it.

I will reserve my review scores till I finish the bottle but I'm in the solid low 4's all around so far,

The weather today was great, even though you're like 45 minutes away from me. Where did you get some Anti-hero from? If you don't mind me asking?

Back from the brewery (with two "sours" for a future NBS, we'll see how they pulled off the style). Still have a couple of BIF beers left to drink, so I figured I'd pop one this weekend. Ore Dock Brewing Saison, courtesy oh @strohme2:

First off, there is almost no head . Despite this, I got whiffs of the esters as I poured, Belgian yeast, some banana, some tart fleshy fruit, and nice herb/spice notes. Feel is very effervescent, maybe a tad too much. The flavors follow the nose. A slightly fruity saison, but it doesn't interfere with the basic style, and I am happier for it. Very enjoyable!
