I live in the LA-area and debating about a solo trip to probably Portland or Seattle.

Anyone ever done a beercation by themselves?

    Pros/cons?

I really like traveling alone and have done a couple short beercations.

    Pros:
    More spontaneity
No compromising on where/how long you go to a particular brewery/pub--if you like one a lot, just stay all damn day
You're forced to meet and have conversations with new people

    Cons:
More expensive (no one to share cost of lodging/gas with)
    Potential loneliness
Fewer pieces of luggage to bring back hauls

I'm a loner by nature, so I don't see why you couldn't have a good time doing this. A DUI would sure as hell ruin your trip, though.

I love traveling alone too. I say go for it.

I go to bars and restaurants alone all the time, but I tend to be pretty comfortable talking to strangers. Go for it, but don't spend much on the room, as it's no fun hanging there alone, I'd use it only for showers and sleep. Most solo trips allow getting more done in a day, so they tend to be shorter than a trip with the family or spouse. Years of being sent away for work, week at a time, makes it easy now.

Once you've decided on your itinerary, post it in this thread and you'll probably have a few local BAs meet you for a few rounds at some pubs.

Also big fan of the solo trip. I will occasionally spring for a nicer hotel if need be because if I'm driving I have to cut Myself off before too long and continue the party back at the room.

My family has a vacation home in the mountains about three hours from hill farmstead...very occasionally I'll get up early and drive there through the green mountains and work my way back to NY picking up other Vermont goodies on the way. A little bit here and there sprinkled throughout the day then I get to enjoy the spoils once I return home

Dude, while I used to live in VT and know a bunch of people up there I am super fond of swinging up and spending weekends by myself, hitting pubs, breweries, going hiking and enjoying the lake. Vermont is a PERFECT solo beercation spot

This is a great idea! I'll do so for my next beercation.

I did a solo beercation to Chicago last year, and had a blast. I'll be leaving next week to do another one in Milwaukee, involving a stop in Chicago on the way there.

Hostels and AirBnBs are fantastic for this sort of thing, they cut down costs and often are right in the heart of the city.

I did a solo trip to Portland last October. I made it to 8 or 9 breweries in 4 days and had a great time. I'd say go for it. The city had great public transit so you don't have to worry about driving back to your hotel after drinking.

I've never officially done a solo beercation. The closest I get is agreeing to go to conferences in good beer cities. Then I break off from the group at night to hit beer spots. Occasionally, I find coworkers that want to go with me to beer bars, too.

I go to Madison by myself to drink beer a couple times a month, does that count?

Every work trip is a beercation for me. I check out new spots throughout the week when I travel.

Never done it, but I'd approve my wife doesn't really like craft beers.

Portland might be my best bet. Maybe I can meet someone nice who will take me to Tillamook for some cheese and deGarde

    Con: no DD!

I drove from PA to IA solo and stopped by Founders (After Dark Horse and Bell's), because it was totally on the way. When I got there, they had BS and KBS on tap, so I had to have one of each. Had to. I spent the next two hours sitting at the bar drinking water watching Will Smith in I, Robot in subtitles until I felt clear-headed enough to drive through Chicago.
