I believe Nelson is the dominant hop in that? Nice beer. They know their IPAs....

Well, looks like you BIF folks have been having a lot of fun. Can't wait to join the reindeer games in the next go-around.
As for me, I've for this in my glass while enjoying the Masters on the tube and soon, the final game of the Giants/Dodgers series on the radio.

The guy at my LBS has been talking this up like it's amazing and while it's good, amazing it surely isn't.
Despite my "poobah" standing, I can't tell you the hops I like/dislike, but I think the label of this beer has two that fall into the latter category.
Not getting the flavor profile I like (think fruity) or the danky nose.
Just a ho-hum DIPA and once I review it, I bet it'll be in line with the ranking.

This is a top caliber IPA, smells floral, earthy, pours an opaque orange, small head, dissipates quickly leaving some lacing. The taste is superb, very bitter hoppy bite, but not offensive as there is some backup sweetness as well. This is probably a top 5 IPA for me, thanks Brian

In a shocking development, my next beer is not from the BIF. As I mentioned earlier, I hung out with fellow BA @TheBungyo last night (Happy Birthday Calen!) as he and his girlfriend were in town scouting housing, as she's getting transferred here for her work. He was kind enough to bring me a couple bottles of home brew, and a mini-growler of a somewhat atypical Pilsener from an under-the-radar Seattle brewery. So, here it is: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31527/204974/

My Grimm was brewed at Beltway, also. They are a contract-only brewer that seemingly does a decent amount of business. I know they happen to handle a few local breweries' beers, and have seen at least a couple from further out of town. I heard they might have a little tasting kiosk or something at their place, though if they are contract only, not sure why they would have this. Maybe I misheard .

3rd an final NBS (for me) is New Jersey Beer Co. LBIPA. An east coast IPA at 6.5% ABV. For those who don't live around here LBI is Long Beach Island, a barrier island family friendly beach destination. But that's just so you can understand the name.
Pours clear amber from 12 oz bottle into tulip glass. Thin white head with moderate lacing.
Aroma is pleasant with some caramel notes and some fruity notes.
Taste is very good hoppy/malty balance of an east coast IPA. Hops are dominant but not overpowering.
Feel is also very good with a nice oiliness. It invites another sip.
Overall I find this to be a very good brew, especially at the ABV.
If you told me this morning something this good could come from North Bergen NJ I would have called you a liar. I sit pleasantly corrected.
    Enjoy Everyone.

OK, as I'm several beers into my day, and, I'm about to head over to the local bottle shop to meet up with a B.C. BA who's bringing me down a few bottles, I need to do a bit of BIF housekeeping while I'm still functional.

Would anyone who is interested in participating in NBS BIF #4: Monkeys with Knives , please to go the thread for the current one, and just post that you're interested. When the time comes, I'll post a sign-up thread, but this will give me a base to work from. It's a few months away, and I'm sure that I'll lose any list I make between now and then, but replying to the current thread will keep me on track. Go here if y'all want to be in: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/triple-threat-nbs-bif-3.388922/

The day sure is passing by quickly... Time for my next new beer, which happens to be #1,000!

Just Outstanding IPA from Kern River, my first from this brewery. Thank you to my sender @Stillyman11 for allowing me a taste of Kern River. :grinning:

Very clear apple juice color with a soft white 2 finger head. Leaves a ring and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is both sweet from the malts and tropical from the hops. Amarillo was a good choice and a favorite of mine. A bit of grapefruit zest for some bite on the flavor with sweet notes of caramel malts. Tropical flavors of passion fruit and guava add depth to the taste. Both refreshing and dry with a clean and medium feel. Very tasty IPA.

Here is the group pic of all the treats!

@woemad gave me the idea to do a side-by-side with the Westy 12 and St Bernardus abt 12, so I will in a future NBS. Suppose I could do a Rochefort 10 since all 3 would be new to me.

We went to the neighborhood cookout last night, and I took a growler of Lagunitas Citrusinesis. Was drinking and sharing that most of the night. Then someone was talking about how much he liked spicy beers, and I told him the bottle shop a mile down the road had Mango Magnifico on tap, so he ran down and got a growler, which we all shared. Then it started to rain, so we all went inside where the women were doing whiskey shots. So we did shots of Jameson Caskmates - Jameson finished in stout casks. At the end of the night, I left in a haze.

Onto my new beer for the day, acquired this week on a trade, Tree House Haze. This is an 8.2% DIPA from a growler filled 3/19/16. I really enjoyed this beer, and will likely trade for more from them. My review is below.

Poured from a 750ml growler filled 3/19/16 into a 12 ounce tulip. The look is cloudy and opaque. It looks like pineapple juice but a little darker and more orange. Small, white head, which dissipated quickly, leaving moderate lacing. The smell is strong oranges - almost smells like orange juice - with a hoppiness coming through underneath. The mouthfeel is very smooth with medium carbonation. The taste is strong citrus - orange, and some grapefruit - but the hop presence is much stronger than I expected from the smell. In no way is any one flavor overpowering. This beer is incredibly balanced with no hint of alcohol. Overall, this beer is fantastic and very easy to drink. I completely understand the hype on the beer, and Tree House, if all their IPAs follow the quality of this one. Every taste gives me a little hint of different flavors. I'll definitely look for more from them, given the chance.

Another brew from my NBS BIF #3 haul from @JDAWG71 Great label art and tasty brew!

    3.72/5 rDev +2.2%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

12oz. can poured into a snifter. Nice label art!

Look: Good looking brew, amber/copper colored, clear, foamy head settles and rings my glass. Lacing clings to the side.

Smell: Bready yeast, caramel, and a bit of a pine hop aroma floating around.

Taste: Nice bitterness smooths out the caramel and doughy malt flavors, comes together clean. Easy to drink, smooth.

Feel: Moderate level of carbonation, nice smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

Overall: A nice , easy drinking red ale. Has a decent amount of bitterness, that seems like a necessary addition to bring everything together.

I don't know what a Barley Mow is, but they were able to put a decent brew together here! Thanks again JDAWG!
