Happy Saturday, BA. Drinking breakfast before getting to work outside. This one from SC, an extra in a recent trade.

Thought about doing Flaming Lips because of the beer name, but decided to go with something I've been rocking lately instead:

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I finally got my mountain bike back yesterday, so I am definitely going on the trail today. I was thinking Island Lake in Brighton. Haven’t been there in a year or so; would be a nice easy way to fly through 30+ miles of fast and less technical stuff.

My go-to hoppy American brown ale. Fantastic stuff. Flavors of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toast, dark bread, molasses, and light dark fruit; with medium herbal/grassy/pine hop flavors. Moderate pine/grassy bitterness, with a great balance of hop/malt flavors; with a moderately creamy/silky and smooth mouthfeel; with some hop stickiness as well. Light-moderate dryness. Always love it.

Incredible as always. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pine hops; with moderate caramel/toasted bready malt and herbal/floral/grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness; smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness. Has all the mosaic and citra hop flavors I love with balanced bready malts to give it that juicy taste feeling. A definite go-to IPA now.

I got the BA Bigfoot from the Costco pack, so I figured I’d open last year’s. Just as amazing as I remember the 2014 I originally reviewed. Flavors of big caramel, toffee, raisin, plum, fig, molasses, vanilla, brown sugar, coconut, toasted oak, and bourbon; with some pine, herbal, citrus peel hop flavors. Moderate pine/rind bitterness and oak/bourbon spiciness. Full bodied with a creamy/slick mouthfeel with some sticky/resinous hop notes as well. Light increasing dryness as well from hop oils and tannic oak spice. I’ve always preferred English barleywines in barrels over American; but this is definitely an outstanding American version as always. Tons of barrel presence/complexity with great malt/hop flavor balance. Love it.

Waiting for the wife to wake up so we can head out to breakfast. While she sleeps I'm putting my time to good use drinking a KBS on the patio.

    Anchor Go West! IPA

Appearance: Light amber, very nice white cap.

Aroma: Good malt with hops following. Hops are floral, spicy and a bit earthy in a good way.

Taste: Good clean malt with hops present but in the background. The flavors of this brew are so well integrated it seems that none stand out then you realize that's because they're all working so well together. Very solid stuff that leaves a good impression. Malt in the finish and lingering hops in the aftertaste. Pleasant and rewarding drink.

    Texture: Medium and pleasing.

Overall: This is one of the better ones from Anchor, I think. One of those you can't go wrong with when you want something good without being too different.
