Not sure about Red Chair, though that one still tastes great to me. (There might have been a change between when it was first brewed originally as a one-off and actually called an IPA, and when they decided to put it in their normal seasonal rotation at which point it became an "NWPA". I never tasted the "IPA" version.)

Hop Henge, being "experimental" by nature, was always a different recipe from year to year.

Agreed on Red Chair, that beer turned me on to hoppier offerings when I first started drinking (haven't been around as many of you). I hadn't revisited it in a few years until just last fall when I picked up a case of it at Costco. Such a great beer.

The same goes for Fresh Squeezed, such a great beer that I'm impressed by whenever I stumble on it.

No. The beer is a murky mess. Last time I had it was on tap at the brewery and it was a flaming dumpster fire train wreck. It didn't resemble Blue Dot or even an Imperial IPA. I can't believe they were selling it in that shape.

"I haven't had one for a loooong time, but I'll throw Alaskan Winter Ale out as my contribution. This was one of the first craft beers I was ever served, and it 1) made me realize that beer can be good, and 2) opened my eyes to the possibilities.

Maybe I should grab a sixer for old-times' sake...

That Smoked Porter is the best beer they make, and I grab a couple every year. They age pretty well too, so I recommend it to folks who are just starting to cellar beer. It's got a very nice price too.

I have nothing but anecdotal evidence, but my impression back when Fresh Squeezed made the move from Bombers (that first summer it came out) to permanent rotation was that it was different. It didn't seem as bright and hoppy and I felt it was maltier. But I'm also ready to accept that I'm wrong and the beer just wasn't as fresh. I never had the coriander experiment, and that thread never actually refutes that the recipe changed (maybe I missed something?)

Given my memory of this, along with my memory of red chair, this thread has me questioning my palate, memory or both. Hm.

That's why doing reviews, or at least some solid notes, is helpful. Not because someone else might care what you think, but so you can remember what your experience, with that beer, at that time was, more accurately.

OK, maybe, I'll start, reviewing, again. Were you drinking when you wrote this?

Had my first Lagunitas IPA in some time at the sneak peek last night and immediately thought of this thread. It's been many years, and still holds up very well against current offerings - plus it's availability is nearly omnipresent.

Has Lagunitas started brewing anything on-site yet?

Edit: Not until April or May.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA - only ever have it at Mariner's games or if I am at a crappy beer grocery store and they at least have that. Despite that, it's still fantastic.

Mac & Jacks African Amber - yup I said it, really used to enjoy this. Last time I had it was on tap at Great Wolf Lodge due to lack of choice, still holds up ok even on their suspect lines.

Redhook ESB - well this used to be a staple...no comment now.

Deschutes Black Butte Porter - perfect "well at least they have this" beer, still enjoy today but don't buy often due to desire to have variety.

Pyramid Apricot Amber Ale - I used to buy this by the 6 pack, don't enjoy it as much as I used to but it holds sentimental value. I think I had this in what I think was my first ever taster tray at the brewery by the stadiums.

Shaftebury Cream Ale (BC) - similar to Red Hook issue, but when it was a craft beer 10+ years ago it was amazing. Still holds sentimental value.

Nope, haven't had a beer since Saturday. Though, that's likely to change here in a few minutes. :sunglasses:

That's pretty much my standard response when the question of doing reviews comes up. Do 'em for you. If keeping a notebook is better for someone, do that. Untappd is fine for just keeping track, but terrible for any kind of detail.
