Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Not much planned for today. Got a trade to finalize packaging, but not much else. Don't feel like making a drive out for a new beer haul this time. It's supposed to rain pretty heavily today anyways.

    Beers this morning:

Amazing dubbel! Flavors of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, pear, apricot, red apple, orange peel, peppercorn, clove, anise, and light banana yeast; with balanced caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, nutty, and toasted biscuit malts; with herbal/grassy hops and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium bodied, and moderately crisp. Balanced bready/grainy creaminess and yeast/spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. Increasingly drying carbonation and spicy yeast. Extremely drinkable. Really glad I grabbed a pack recently, this is one of the best American made dubbels out there. I had not had it in a long time prior to that. I need to buy Ommegang more often. I reviewed the bourbon barrel aged version a few weeks ago, and it was even better(not by a huge margin though).

Awesome NEIPA! Flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced wheat, biscuity malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced bready/grainy wheat creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Slight resins/rinds, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth and easy drinking. Very juicy, vibrant, and dank hops; great malt balance, with no residual sweetness. A little more drying on the bitterness than I would have preferred. Still delicious. Apparently they are doing variations on the hops now. Original batch was Simcoe and Mosaic; my can says Falconers Flight 7 C's and Citra. Will keep an eye out for others, really want to try the Mosaic/Simcoe the most.

Awesome coffee DIPA. Looks paler in color than last year. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with balanced medium roast coffee, cocoa, and vanilla; caramel, toasted bread malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel and light roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resins and creaminess in the mouthfeel; touch of chalkiness from cocoa/coffee. Increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Very drinkable and minimal warming ABV. Pretty much perfectly balanced between cocoa/coffee and citrus/pine hop flavors; not overly sweet/malty. On my 3rd and final pack of the year. Just got a pack of Xocoveza last weekend, so it's time to make the Stone seasonal transition.

BBA imperial brown ale. Delicous! Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and biscuit; with lighter notes of molasses, butterscotch, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, raisin, cherry, and plums. Touch of herbal/spicy hops. Light herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-full bodied bready/grainy creaminess; slightly slick, sticky, silky, chalky, and tannic. Lightly increasing tannic oak dryness. Insanely smooth 11.4%; mildly warming, no barrel booze. Nice rich malt complexity and great barrel balance without being boozy or overly drying. Really glad I grabbed another bottle, price was worth it. This is aging really well. Far from my favorite BBA Clown Shoes beer, but they never disappoint. They execute BA beers really well.

    Upright • Scrap Iron + Wolves & People • Cellar Society - WP1

Decided to do a side-by-side for these two “tribute to Orval” beers. The Upright was the clear winner. The Wolves and Peoples was very subtle - almost too subtle. The Upright was much closer - since it used the yeast from the Orval brewery. But nether one had a head anywhere near an Orval. Too bad each on these were a one off releases...

    Good Morning BA
I know it's only Saturday morning, but I decided to see The Reverend anyway.
Found this on a store shelf while in Kentucky last week and took a gamble.
I've never had it fresh but it's good as it is. I heard this country gold on my white knuckle, post nightshift drive home this morning. Appropriate for a guy drinking a 10% beer at 7am named The Reverend.

If you see me on NBS in the morning, it means I wasn't struck by lightning. Cheers!
