Though by no means "perfect", Saturday at the pub went pretty well:

Die Deutscher Haltung, Foreign Objects Beer Company, Kellerbier

Xingu Black Beer, Cervejaria Kaiser, Schwarzbier

Mysterious Ways Doppelbock, Great Lakes Brewing Co.

Brauherren Premium Pils, Einbecker Brauhaus AG

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/66/1872/

And had to throw in an ale, just for good measure:

Leon Russian Imperial Stout, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company

I love exploring new cities, and got the chance to spend a week in Phoenix for work. After spending the day trying to convince my coworkers to visit a local brewery while we were working outside in the heat all day, they ended up driving straight back to the hotel. I found myself alone in a new city and decided to take a detour. I ended up at Wren House Brewing. It felt like I was walking into the house of a friend. I only had two beers, but both were great.

1st round: Jomax, an oatmeal stout with coffee.

2nd round: Robot Grasshopper, a special release NE IPA on tap (happened to be the release day).

I was exhausted when I came home a few days later after spending full days out in the heat, fitting in my marathon training before work, and visiting a new beer spot or two after work, but Wren House Brewing was the highlight of the trip for me. I wouldn't say traveling for work is always great, and being away from friends and family isn't ideal, so to fit in some personal experiences along the way helps.

I've got a story about that as well... in the late '90s I was brewing at a large brewpub and came up with an 8.3% abv "Grand Cru" based on Celis Grand Cru (later on Pierre himself told me he liked it, although he might have just been blowing smoke...). I informed the servers that it needed to be served in a snifter glass but they didn't like that and later complained to management because it was too much of a hassle for them - - - so we simply started selling it in pints for the same price that we sold all of our other beers!

Like a few of you, to me the perfect beer day is hitting a new city, walking my ass off, using public transit and seeing/tasting new beers at breweries.
You get exercise, lay of the land, talk to weirdos and strangers of all stripes... and try new beers (and hopefully, once in a while, new beer styles).
    There's nothing like it. Cheers!

It seems like for "some" of us (unfortunately and we know to whom this refers) the perfect beer day consists of shitposting so frequently in threads that touch on race and politics, it ruins actually interesting threads that warrant discussion. :pensive:

But now that I've had my 2 cents my favorite beer days usually revolve around brewery tours that I have never been on, or vacationing and trying all the local delights.
    Cheers!

My perfect beer days are probably a tie between the first time I tried Heady, and the first time I tried Alpine Nelson. A close second was the time I had about 22 bottles of Alpine Nelson in my fridge at once. And, yes, I drank them all (not in one day).

Variety is cool and all, but I also believe that when something tastes good, there's nothing wrong with going back for more. It's a shame my palate will never be the same. Cheers!

Memories came flooding back reading this, first time I tried heady topper was my freshman year in college. My roommate's dad sent a 12 pack up to him for his birthday, and he HATED it. Gave me all 11 remaining beers for free and I was like a kid on Christmas.
    Cheers!

I can just picture it, bro. I know the feeling. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Cheers!

Haven't had the pleasure of having a heady since, and good god can I still taste it just thinking about it!

Yeah, we had a lot of Melvin DIPAS served in 16 ounce glasses for a long while, locally. I opened my big mouth and the next thing I knew, 10 ounce glasses were used. I really don't feel that badly aboot it.

Walking up from the woods to a railroad track in Yugoslavia (modern day Croatia), exhausted, hungry, thirsty, carrying my gear, and seeing a light in the distance down the tracks. We pushed on and found an old roadhouse style restaurant; big high-backed booths, Friday night, with a big crowd of real country folks. We were a sight, spoke none of the language, but we muttered beer and food. The lady waiting on us smiled brightly and came back with two huge mugs of frothing dark lager. That is my most perfect beer day bar none! Then she brought a bowl of a great beef stew and a loaf of wonderful dark bread. We had two more beers then camped in a nearby field and slept like babies. This was 1971 and the meal for both of us cost around $8 total.

My most perfect beer day. I'd have to go back to 1969, a few days from graduating from American International School in Vienna. I hit a baseball so hard, they couldn't find it. I shot put 3 times further than the next closest person. I drank a couple of half liters of Budvar with my Aussie buddy that happened to be close to the high school. All in the same day. :open_mouth:)

Perfect beer day trying new beers: My first trip to the Borefts beer festival in the Netherlands. An insane brewery list, and everything that I tried ranged from very good to superb. Got to drink various Narke, Struise, De Molen and so many more hard to find but amazing beers.

Perfect beer day drinking beers I'd previously had: The night I spent at the St Bernardus Browershuis. Earlier in the day I stopped at the small but unusual locals pub nearby called De Helleketel and enjoyed a few good Watou area beers, then over to the abbey at St Sixtus and picked up some Westvleteren. That evening I stayed at the St Bernardus Browershuis, where they stock their fridges with various all you can drink St Bernardus beers. I did a side by side blind tasting between the St Bernardus Abt 12 and the Westvleteren 12. The rest of the evening was spent going through at least one of each type of St Bernardus beers in the fridges.

Oh how I'd love to go back and live those two days over again.
