And for my third entry another Mid West IPA from @WesMantooth.
Pours a clear copper color with a slightly off white head. The head disappears rather quickly leaving decent spotty lacing.
Aroma is surprisingly muted unlike the other Midwest IPAs Ive tried so far. Theres some pine and orange and some tea like notes.
Taste is same with pine, grapefruit, orange and smooth caramel malts. Its quite bitter but very easy to drink.
Feel is medium bodied and there is some heat from the 9% abv. Nice carb throughout and its fairly dry in its finish.
Overall a really nice IPA in that Midwestern style. Probably the least complex of what Ive had so far but still very good. I think I actually liked the straight IPA version a bit more. They are not similar in any respect. It had a much clearer and crisper feel with citrusy hops and a leaner malt presence. In any case very good beer. I may be experiencing a little hop overload.....

Idle Hands Four Seam NEIPA from our NBS BIF thanks to @Rub_This_BBQ in an awesome box of New England stuff

A - Lemony bright yellow haze with small white head that dissipates quickly
S - Big dank pineapple and tropical fruit. Getting a really good amount of dank greenness in the nose. Some mango and grapefruit jump out.
T - Sticky pineapple nugs, orange peel. Other citrus flavors going on too. Nice floral notes coming on too. Tasty and juicy. Little but of lemon on the back end.
M - Nice and light while staying fluffy. Spot on for the style.
O - Really nice Haze. Didn't weigh my palate down like some of the bigger ones tend to do. Totally stayed away from being sludgey. Would drink again in a heartbeat, very refreshing.

Thanks a bunch and cheers everybody!

Was excited to see your review of this beer after you sent me one that I reviewed a couple weeks back. Well done.

I also did not get the vanilla outright, but noted it may have contributed to the overall flavor of the beer.

I also loved the dry finish on this beer and thought your “biscuit smothered in jam” comment was great!

    Cheers...and thanks!!

That is a sweet glass! Cheers!

    The review:
32oz growler filled at the Fishers small batch brewery 7 days ago poured into a one liter mug. 8.1% ABV and 23 IBU per Sun King's website. The beer pours medium brown in color with minimal light brown head. The head recedes to a fat ring and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is yeasty with strong dark baked bread presence. The taste is more dark toasted bread with chocolate and caramel mixed in. No real hop flavor and little bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, adequately carbonated and somewhat dry in the finish. No major brewing flaws. Overall, good. Decent American take on the style, but not worth tracking down.

That's it for new beers today. Cheers all!

    16 oz. can.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch plus white head over a slightly hazy golden body with nice, sticky lacing. Nose of ruby red grapefruit, other sweet citrus, and slight tropical fruit. Taste mirrors nose nicely with a gentle citrus pith bitterness on the finish. It's all about the flavors on this gem. Wow, what a delicious beer! Nice feel and overall, a winner from Waitsfield, VT. Cheers to Sean and his crew for an amazing DIPA!

I might possibly have one more in me....

Don’t judge my review though it’s been a long day so far........truth be told I’d love nothing more than a couple fingers of bourbon and a cigar on the porch .

But I’ve got a coffee beer from a very generous ba that’s calling my name first!

Finally got into this beauty from @FFFjunkie. My first 3 Floyds sour and damn it was tasty!

Pours a mostly clear rose hued light brown with a thin white head that disappeared nearly as fast as it appeared.
Smells of tart blueberry skins, really more tart than anything.
Taste follows, tart blueberry, oaky, quite acetic but not over the edge.
Medium to full body, coats the mouth well. Good puckering kick.
Overall an excellent sour, well balanced, very well made.

Yea that does sound good. Weather here tonight would be perfect for that.

Coffee beer could go with a cigar too!

Since I’ve been suckered into another beer this evening by @TheGent , I decided to crack one he sent me.

I’m a few deep already so hopefully I do this beer some justice...

Pours a very pleasant slightly hazy light copper color. A very vigorous pours yielded 2+ fingers of bright white super creamy looking head. (My first nitro experience that yielded that much head).

Aroma is no bullshit. Straight up coffee and cream.

Taste follows nose. Gorgeous coffee with decadent cream. No foreplay, just straight down to business. I enjoy the no nonsense approach.

Feel is uncommonly smooth and refined. Creamy and thick af , it’s definitely on point.

Overall a fantastic cream ale and the few I’ve tried from them have renewed my faith in the style. These are without a doubt the best cream ales I’ve ever had. Exceptional execution along with exceptional variants. 4.5/5 all day.

Anthony , thank you so much for the opportunity! But since you have crushed me once again, it is now my turn. And I’d be concerned if I were you....

    Cheers boys!

This evening’s new beer comes from the great first box received from @Jimmy_Kneecaps in the current NBS BIF. Ghost River Midnight Magic.

Very dark brown, almost black with a moderate head that dissipates slowly leaving limited lacing.

Slight metallic note. Otherwise, toasted grain, chocolate, cocoa powder

No metallic notes on the tongue, light pleasant sweetness, cocoa, moderate welcome bitterness.

    Lighter body, moderate carbonation.

An enjoyable Schwartzbier i’d Gladly drink again.

    Cheers!

Repost of mystery beer from the BIF. Couldn't wait any longer to crack this mystery bottle that's been teasing me. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Smell is sugary and woody, definitely barrel aged. First sip of that delicious sweetness makes it clear that this is an English Barleywine, probably bourbon barrel aged but the barrel is balanced well and not overpowering. Bwines are tied with Quads for my all-time favorite style so this was super classy of @MacMalt and a perfect mystery beer for me.

Cutting through all the paper and tape reveals that is is Dog's Bollocks from Rushing Duck, which is an amazing name and one of my favorite Briticisms. It is indeed an English Barleywine, 25% of which was in bourbon barrels. Vindication!

Quite chuffed about this ace ale, @MacMalt, you top bloke!

Moderate pour yields a 1/2 inch tan head over a near black body with some lacing. Nose of dark roasted malt, dark fruit, bitter chocolate, and slightly boozy oak. Taste mirrors nose with a bit of chocolate covered cherry flavor and more booze. Nice feel and overall, a complex stout worth seeking out. Cheers to the crew from Hinesburg, Vermont!
