I actually live in Coventry RI where he spent time and has a homestead. He was also born in Warwick a town adjacent to mine. I live on the route directly across the street from-
    Waterman's Tavern
"Each division had roughly the same amount of artillery and supplies, as well as a field hospital. Rochambeau himself left with the first division (the Bourbonnais Regiment) and arrived at the second camp site in Coventry in the evening of June 18 at a place known as Waterman's Tavern. The route between Providence and
    Coventry generally followed the
alignment of Broadway in Providence to Olneyville, then Route 14 to the eastern side of the Scituate Reservoir. The original road is submerged in the reservoir but picks up again as Old Plainfield Pike in Scituate. West of Route 102 in Foster, the march route resumes following Route 14 into Coventry to the second camp.

They say troops camped in the apot that is now my yard. Ive found a few artifacts but nothing major.

Greetings fellow NBSers! A sunny day here in the Fourth Corner. The Mariners won today, and the Cards are in front of the hated Cubholes, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Having a Black Is Beautiful stout, this one a collab between Boundary Bay and Gruff (the breweries are across the street from each other). It was canned yesterday, and my target in the upcoming NBS BIF will be receiving one.

    375ml corked/caged bottle. Don't see a date on it.

Pours a clear light orange, flash of head that fizzes away quickly and leaves no lacing and almost nothing at all behind. Carbonation is low, unless I agitate it. Smell is a little funk, a fair amount of sour, a lot of oak, and vague fruit.

Taste is super tart, oak comes across clearly with funk in the background, fruit is still vague but mostly I get unripe berries or lemons, I get some fruit skin bitterness, too.

Mouthfeel is medium, more effervescent than it looks, kind of soft. Overall, this is a really good beer.

Late to the party as usual, this week I have an English Porter, Blue Falcon from Bravo Brewing Company of scenic Pascoag R.I.

Brand new, brewert fresh and not all coffee-d out.

    Cheers.

A strong pour released two fingers of tan creamy foam with long retention and spots of lace.
Cloudy dark brown with reddish-brown highlights, semi-opaque.

Bread greets the nose as fresh baked sourdough, toasted wheat and rising dough with toffee and milk chocolate.
Very faint herbal hops, a hint of smoke yet no roasted smell.

Neutral (at first) with mild bitterness from faint roasted malt, caramel and crystal malts are in play. Baked pear, apple and fig flavor appears without being fruity. Just the lightest taste of coffee arrives at the semi-dry finish as bitterness rises to average and lingers as warm spice.

Medium light bodied with soft lasting carbonation, smooth and well balanced. Alcohol is well hidden, as this Beer warms so does the alcohol. True to style and brewery fresh.

One more while I watch basketball, hockey and the Southern 500. Today's offering comes from Urban Roots in their Isolate series featuring Simcoe hops. New to both myself and BA, though I've had the Isolate:Strata previously.

Can labelled Solo Project 08/13/20 into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

L: Gorgeous optically, bright golden with 2+ fingers sticky head with moderate retention and left thick ringed lacing.

S: Nice bright nose, earthy, dank and pine. Subtle berries and citrus hiding underneath.

T: Follows the nose well, but with more citrus prominence. Finishes with moderate bitterness and a hint of acidity, both linger pleasantly on the palate a bit.

F: Low-medium bodied with higher carbonation, slick on the tongue an swallow.

O: Lots to like here, very approachable excellent Simcoe single-hop brew. Glad I grabbed a 4pk, and will happily buy again.

    BA score = 4.28, rev = 0.0%

Greetings, NBW! Hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday weekend. My wife and I have packed a lot of enjoyment into it. Everything from hosting family to visiting friends to watching live streams and imbibing has been a welcome respite from the previous few weeks. I also picked up a new beer fridge today for the basement. My wife is thrilled to have so much more space in our kitchen fridge that she's regretting that we didn't do it sooner. Tonight, while enjoying the last night of a triple header of live Phish streams, I dove into a beer that is not only new to me, but relatively new in general.

Eleventh Hour Brewing is minutes away from me and has only been around for three years now. Burn Your Suit(BYS) is their anniversary stout. This year's base version was aged for 18 months in Weller bourbon barrels. They then created a few variations to can and sell alongside bottles of the base. Tonight I cracked open the Fudge Brownie Pretzel variation. I don't find myself often indulging in these types of pastry stouts, but I have to admit this flavor combo caught my attention. I'm very glad that I gave it a show. The stout itself is very well done, the barrel aging is complimentary, and the flavors are all identifiable without being overwhelmingly sweet. I'll let my review speak for itself below, but I'll reiterate here how much a fan I am of this beer. :beers:

Look - Poured into a snifter, this BYS variant is jet black and visibly thick. A fizzy one cm head forms upon pouring but dissipates almost immediately.
Smell - Fudge and bourbon strike are the first things I notice. There is also a roasty depth to the aroma with a touch of burnt marshmallow.
Taste - Thick fudgy chocolate melts over your palate after the faintest hint of salt kicks off the taste. From there the bourbon takes over and dances with coffee and marshmallow, though none were used. The pretzel finally hits on the aftertaste, but is noticeable and unmistakable.
Feel - This beer looks thick and feels equally viscous. It is not cloying and doesn't destroy your palate, but it drinks like a fine melted chocolate.
Overall - Fantastic execution here. All of the flavors are present and distinct while a high quality imperial stout supplies the base. The bourbon compliments the whole more than overwhelming it. Very enjoyable.

I like most Founders offerings, and don’t necessarily like shedding light on the shortcomings of a “beer”, but the adjuncts thrown in there overwhelmed the beer completely, and the one flavor I actually cared about (coffee) was faint if present at all beyond the aroma. I don’t drink Starbucks, but it’s what a I imagine a frappuccino tastes like, and was similar to when we dumped the Hershey’s chocolate sauce into milk, though imagine just a bit of milk but also adding a large pour from a sugar bag.

Thsnks for posting, and I’m glad they were finally able to get this right and released (was initially scheduled for May, then July, then early August release.

    Will hunt this down.

Hawaii doesn’t count as one can’t drive to it.. Oklahoma is the only non island state I need to visit, may hit it and prairie artisan in a drive out to Vegas for Christmas or winter next year.

    Greetings, Beer Friends!
Thought I was gonna be SOL with having something to post on NBW this weekend but my son did me a solid and brought me some freshies from Pueblo Vida in Tucson so I’m keeping him in my will.....for now! The shadow you see is not an optical illusion but actually is a black hue that runs through the largely yellow liquid, like mixed fruit juice. Hope everyone is relaxing and staying out of harms way this Labor Day weekend, cheers!

Pours a turbid yellow with a dark shadow inside, a little odd but whatevs. A slight bit of head and lacing. It smells herbal, and juicy with a tropical fruit aroma. On first sip it’s bursting with flavor; citrus, pineapple, plum and others that give it a tropical juice flavor. Also dank and herbal as it was brewed last week with a decent malt backbone from the sonoran white wheat grown nearby in Marana. It’s 6.5 abv with Citra, El Dorado, Strata, Mosaic and Simcoe. Another solid drinker from the boys and girls at PV, cheers!

Prairie Peanut Butter Bomb, 14% ABV, 4.27 Overall

Pours a very effervescent ebony with 2+ fingers of dense caramel colored head. Nice lacing & average head retention

S: Peanuts, dark fruit, smokey notes

T: Slight chile bite up front along with subtler coffee notes, some figs & cocoa along with dryness up front. Sweeter chocolate notes, more chile heat, plus dryness as this warms & a little bit of nuttyness. Finishes dry with peanuts, cocoa & touch of coffee & some chile heat & vanilla

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation. Body thickens & carbonation smooths out as this warms

Solid offering, wanted a little more peanut profile, just a little. Not boozey, but still a sipper, a little more spiceyness than the last few Bomb! iterations I've had

2020 Batch, It's Ok. caramel, dark bread, a hint of roasted malt. slightly sweet with straight line sweetness from start to finish. Light duty flavor wise. More of a dark euro (?) style beer maybe than a bock. But it wasn't bad. no off or bad flavors. Thin mouth feel. Drank from the tap at Groveland Tap bar.

    Nightcap.

1201, a dessert stout from Brasserie Sir John of Lachute, Quebec.

This is a new-ish brewery that has been getting good reviews, primarily for their hazy IPAs. This beer is an imperial sweet stout with coffee, maple syrup, cocao nibs, vanilla, and chilli peppers.

Pours pitch black with a creamy coffee head. It sticks around and provides some nice lacing.

Sweet coffee aroma up front. Some vanilla in the background.

Sweet on the tongue. Vanilla follows. A little maple, subtle but present. The chilli pepper is very light and provides a slight kick to the finish.

Thick creamy and oily. Very pleasant.

A very nice big dessert stout from this newer brewery. There is a BA version that I think might be quite nice. Good stuff.

Unless my wife gets antsy, this will probably be my last new beer of the weekend. My first time with Weihenstephaner's Vitus.

500ml bottle served in a big nonic pint glass. Don't know the code, but it 7359 15:36:45.

Pours slightly hazy, light amber gold with a fairly large head that collapses to a medium sized cap. Smell is wheat, yeast, a little banana.

Taste is bright wheat and banana, definite grain character, sweet. Not honey, not sure what it is.

Mouthfeel is thick but not heavy or cloying. Kind of velvety. Overall, it's a nice beer.

I like it, but I didn't expect it to be so much like what I think of as a wit.
