I picked up a single of this new one from Bell's

    No, Yeah golden ale
12oz canned 2/11/21 (5 weeks ago) poured into a pilsner glass at fridge temp 4.5% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright light amber with nearly white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and cap. The aroma is grainy with very faint fruit underneath. The taste is "beery" and I say that as a compliment. Mild pale malt with minimal hop input and a very subtle fruity note that is probably coming from the yeast. The mouthfeel is thin bodied with a little more than average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, very good. The only thing I'm not wild about is the AAL level of carbonation on an ale. I imagine that's to provide some familiarity to the crossover AAL drinkers they are hoping reach.

Case in point, my wife just walked in from shopping. She said that looks good. I told her she could finish it and her response after the first drink was "yum."

Cheers all. Hope to be back with one more later.

NBS #2. The latest of Twin Elephant Brewing Co.'s "Nosh" series: Nelson Sauvin and Strata. This combination of hops is trendy and TE has done a really nice job. Nelson is a hop that engenders strong reaction. Here, it is noticeable but subtle while the Strata adds earthy, herbal red berry and cannabis (I'm feeling my age but I like tasting it in beer). It has a thick, creamy mouth feel and it drinks easily for 8.5% ABV. Overall, this is one of my favorite of Twin Elephant's "Nosh" series. Excellent craftsmanship.

Afternoon/Evening. Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend. I was able to grab a few new Trillium brews last week. Going to start with this monster-
Streets on Streets Imperial IPA, or TIPA as they say.
Pours a chunky, turbid orange much like a glass of OJ with a short lived eggshell head, leaving a thin ring with almost zero lacing.
Aroma is lots of ripe juicy citrus; tangerine, orange grapefruit. Grace notes of overripe pineapple, sweet peach, passionfruit and pine.
Taste follows with citrus, tropicals and stonefruits. It is moderately sweet with a chewy middle that is fairly balanced by a firm pine and pith bitterness and green hops and a slight white pepper spice. Some alcohol but pretty well hidden for 10.8%. Malt is barely discernible. Hop juice.
Feel is full bodied, rustic; chewy/chunky, prickly carb, some alcohol along with hop burn, slightly oily, drying on the finish.
Not for the hop faint of heart thats for sure. A very good hop sipper. Would like to try it next to The Streets, which I dig. Cheers![IMG]

Hello NBW folks! Time for the Sunday Stout.
Had to report on a local offering but sadly I screwed it up.
    Canned 2/7/19 and enjoyed today.
Disclaimer: 2 years maybe too long to cellar this beer.
Poured an opaque pitch black with a medium brown head. Aroma was sweet, too sweet. Coffee and cocoa were detected but malts definitely ruled the roost.
Taste followed the aroma, there was no bitterness found at all. Coffee and cocoa were present but overwhelmed by sweet.
The feel was spot on, excellent for a 12.4% stout. Reminds me to sip and not gulp.
So overall I think trying this again, with less than 2 years on it would be good. But still enjoyed it, definitely an improvement over the prelude to drinking this.
Side note - if your significant other wants a smooth sided toilet, by all means get it. But pay someone else to install it. Oi.

Quiet Sunday doing misc tasks, then playing some Beat Saber on Steam VR. Our son recently got into VR and we got hooked on Beat Saber, so we got our own. It's a blast, rocking out to tunes from the 70's and later.

Wasn’t wrong, I mis-remembered! I still have it, saving it for being vaccinated. Just to celebrate.
Your generosity is still pending retaliatory fire, just need to find the right beer!
But when you least expect it, Ninjas will visit and do damage to your porch.

Alright, against better judgment I am going to insert another strong beer into my reviews for the night and hope it doesn't hit me too hard. This is Magnify's Key Lime Pie Attack, an imperial sour ale with lime, graham cracker, and marshmallow. It clocks in at 8% ABV and it's... definitely something.

On this dreary day in Massachusetts, it's good to have a few strong yet vibrant beers to hunker down with. Though my last of the day will be a similarly dessert-inspired beer, this is of a very different stripe. Magnify does a few other beers with marshmallow (one of which I had and subsequently reviewed a couple months ago), but I think this is my first key lime pie inspired beer that is both imperial and also features marshmallow. It's definitely a thing to make a key lime pie with a marshmallow meringue, so sure, I'll give it to 'em.

The pour on this one is quite blah. It's a deep orange color with pretty much no substantial head formation, and what does show up quickly recedes to absolutely nothing. That means no lace, no legs... nada. Meh. I talk a lot about kettle sours and their stylistic proclivity to provide the drinker with no suds whatsoever, but this brings that to an entirely new level. I am not impressed.

I will say that I was quite taken aback by the nose of this one, though. Not sure if that's a good thing, but it smells exactly like a key lime pie, and the marshmallow feels like a major ingredient that brings the whole thing to fruition in a meaningful and interesting way. That said, it does seem to lose a bit of "beer-ness" from the heavy-handed use of adjuncts here, and with all of the bright citrus and tempering marshmallow stuff going on, I almost don't feel like I'm smelling a beer at all. The lime is pretty much difficult to find under the 'mallow/graham cracker stuff happening, and any tartness in the nose is kinda smothered by those elements if I'm being honest.

On the palate, lime makes its presence known in a big way, which gives a good bit of contrast to the sweet and saccharine nose. Nice undercurrents of citrus blossoming with some slight herbal qualities, hints of grassy hoppiness, and a light note of tartness, as the finish closes out with a parting flavor of graham crackers and wheat-like malt. This is definitely a weird one. I don't think I'd get it again, but not because it isn't good, mostly just cuz it's very specific and does what it does pretty well without really begging for me to enjoy it again. I'm sure those of you out there who are into one-and-done dessert beers understand where I'm coming from here.

Okay... like I said, one more for the night. It's a big one, and I'm excited to see how it is.

Still playing Beat Saber VR, too bad I can't drink beer hands free and kill the blocks in VR at the same time. Might have to rig up a Camelbak backpack or something, would make it real interesting. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned on 3/08/21. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a finger sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with really nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is peach, papaya, pineapple, and ripe melon. 4.25

Taste follows peach, honeydew, papaya, and pineapple. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, fairly soft gentle carbonation, maybe a little sticky but not dry, and at 7.6% it goes down really easy. 4.25

Overall this I would definitely get again, a very nice NEDIPA at an excellent price. 4.25

Well, it was bound to happen: the first legitimately disappointing beer of the weekend.

Parish makes good - and I mean really good - NE-style IPAs. A bit astringent with some hop burn, they are nonetheless flavorful, smooth, and delicious.

Bloom is an awkward duck. I don't know if it's the batch, or the hop varietals in play. It's actually hard to describe what, exactly, is going on here. There's a very smoky, peppery, vegetal note, almost like charred peppers. The rest of the flavors remind me of Dr. Juice, but that awkwardness is just ... well, bordering on unpleasant.

If I'd bought an entire 4-pack, I would have been able to finish it, but I'm glad I only got a single.

Howdy all! A gray, windy, rainy day here in the Fourth Corner. Worked a few hours, and now time for beer before having to be back here at 5am for a full day (this is of note to my target in the current NBS BIF, as samples of todays and tomorrows handiwork will be put into a box, probably on Tuesday). First up is a Kentucky Common Ale from Fringe Brewing in Ferndale WA (which, we locals lovingly refer to as Ferntucky). made with malts and steamed corn, it's a smooth, easy drinking brew:

Tesseract by Grimm. This is the third IPA I’ve had from them (After Image and Lambo Door the others) and all have been excellent. But this may well be my favorite of the three. Like the eponymous space stone vessel from the MCU, this one is transporting. Massive pineapple/guava on the nose and palate, with some underlying notes of pale stone fruit on the latter as well. Smoothly creamy mouthfeel, but with enough bite to keep it from becoming insipid. 4.5 | 4.65 | 4.75 | 4.55 = 4.6

Greetings All from the Great Northwest where we are having high winds and blowing dust. Fortunately I took this picture of Logyard IPA yesterday.

It's a little fruity for my taste. Looks and tastes like pineapple juice.

Hoping for calm winds and clear skies tomorrow.
