    Moved on to

    A.Fisher Brewing - Piney Brown
    Dry hopped brown ale

    No canning date

Pours a deep and dark hickory or chocolate color(attempting to broaden my color vocab)
With a very creamy and thick dense head. Remained a half finger and followed it all the way down

Firm pine aroma with a touch of milk chocolate

Sharp hop bitterness on the front of the tongue, followed by some muted chocolate and pine. Slightly sweet and light aftertaste

Fairly creamy body, light enough for the 7.3% and nice dry and very clean-ready for the next swig finish

    Very impressed with this one!

Natural State Beer Co. Bock Amber Lager, 6.3% ABV; 3.8 overall

Pours an effervescent amber/ caramel with a pinky of sand colored head. Some lacing & head retention

    S: Faint toastyness, figs

T: Toasty, a little caramel, dryness, woody hops & a little brown bread up front. Dry, toasty with a caramel kiss, just a little fig and date as well, plus leafy & woody hops once this beer warms up. Finishes dry, toasty with leafy hops & just a little brown sugar

MF: Medium body, subdued carbonation, carbonation builds back as this beer warms

A very good Bock, perhaps a little too dry? Still very drinkable

    I know they're gimmicky! Haha
I just enjoy trying new things, and it doesn't hurt me to try once. Only out like $2.75. Don't think I'd buy again as I like their regular golden ale more.

I heard it out really well once. Beer is fun, and I like beer, so I had fun!

Not glowing yet, (although I was out at where there are/used to be a nuclear waste disposal/dump in UT on Thurs...)

Might feel like I'm glowing after I drink the beers I planned to share at D&D tonight. Lol!

Even prepped homemade sweet pork to make anyway Cafe Rio might, and my group still bailed

Because I really wanted it + out of spite to my buddies ha!

Epic Brewing - Flower Power Sour

No bottling or batch # info

Pours a deeper and redder peach color (apologies, I'm colorblind AF) with a one finger bright white loose head that settles into a fine ring, and leaves some loose lace

Oak barrel and tart aroma, slightly more fruity and soft as it warms up

Woody, barrel, soft sourness and passion fruit. Hibiscus slightly on the tail end, slight sour candy sweetness

Light, effervescent, puckering and a tinge dry

Overall a good tart sour that is quite enjoyable and sessionable.

American Solera Fat Camp Imperial Milk Stout, 10.0% ABV; 3.96 overall

Pours a chestnut tinged mahogany with a pinky of tan head. Some head retention & lacing, very viscous

    S: Chocolate, vanilla, & cinnamon

T: Follows the nose, all in balance, dry with s'mores minus the smoke. a little kiss of booze & cola up front. I get a little toasted coconut as this beer warms up, more cinnamon & chocolate. Finishes with vanilla, coconut,& cocoa, plus a little cinnamon

MF: Chewy, subdued carbonation, warming. Carbonation does pick as this beer approaches cellar temperature

Solid take on this genre, had higher hopes though, does have that candy bar vibe

That's one of my favorites from Half Acre. Sadly that is also the last distributed batch, as HA is discontinuing this beer in favor of a "lime lager" called Green Torch. Not sure if Fader will ever pop up in the future on draft in the taproom. I'm hoping they also haven't nuked the typically March released WCIPA Navaja (awaiting their response).

About a 1/3 of beer served in Chicago the first three weeks in March are green, though sadly the majority is green dyed Miller Lite.

Thankfully Guinness is served via the proper color, as well as the Chicago brewed Goose Island's Shamrock Stout, which I need to finally formally rate this year.

The river downtown is dyed as well.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz snulip glass canned 2/28/23. Pours a hazy attractive orange yellow with a finger sticky white head that leaves thin lines of lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is peach, mango, passionfruit, tangerine, and apricot. 4

Taste follows peach, mango, passionfruit, tangerine, and apricot nicely balanced. 4

Mouthfeel is a little above medium, maybe a little sticky, rather soft carbonation, and at 6.8% big flavor, but still easy drinking. 4.25

Overall this one is worth a shot for sure, just nothing really stood out, but still nothing took away either. 4.25

I started my Saturday with a great beer from @Roguer and I'm starting my Sunday with a great beer from @Coronaeus.

This is Bring Out Your Dead (BOYD) aged in cognac barrels

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5
Enjoying courtesy of @Coronaeus. This pours an extremely thick, deep, deep brown / black. Healthy thick dark beige colored head with good retention. Overall a very nice looking beer.

Aroma packs quite the punch. I could smell it from a couple feet away, but went in for a closer whiff and should have been more conservative in doing so. A deep inhale up close actually made me start coughing the aromas were so strong. This is far from a criticism, as this beer smells great. A more careful inspection revealed loads of sweet cognac and malts that hint at this being a decadent beer.

Some of these characteristics carry through to the tongue, but there's some light roast that combines brilliantly with the cognac & malts. Every sip is a little different. Sometimes I get barrel up front, sometimes light roast, sometimes a little more cognac. Other sips the roast is more on the finish. Regardless of the order in which I detect them, this is really, really good. Little bit of fig, little bit of chocolate, and a whole lot of delicious. Feel is oily and slick, and lighter than I would have guessed.

Overall, this is outstanding. Thanks for your generosity, Peter!

Ya know, fresh I was underwhelmed with that one but I had one that I had lost in the cellar after a year or two and it was really nice.
On tap it’s likely a better taste too.

Good morning NBS (941)/nbw, and thanks @Roy_Hobbs for hosting this week.

Poured from a 16 oz can, undated, purchased at the brewery on release week.
A - Deep , dark brown color conceals the interior. Initial pour is capped with a tight knit mocha froth.
During the experience the steady carbonation leaves ring after ring.
S - Cocoa, a hint of char, the slightest hint of black pepper from the rye maybe?
T - More silky cocoa, balanced out with a nice hop bite from the Magnum, nothing floral or citrusy, just a hint of pine and nice bittering.
M - Soft and smooth, a sweet stout that keps its sweet inside the rails. Again the hop bite and carbonation keep this well balanced
O - A very good stout, the use of lactose is gentle. Great texture and nice dry finish

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Since the batch after their infected 2017 batch, this has consistently been one of the best local barrel age stouts. I’ll have to send along one of the double barrel versions in the future. Bourbon/Cognac, Rye/Cognac, Bourbon/Rye. They get the highest ratings of any of the brewery’s offerings.

    Cheers!

A stout again for today's new beer, sticking with Prairie. This is Mo Peanut Mo Problem, a barrel aged imperial stout with peanut butter creme filled cookies, crunchy wafers layered with peanut butter creme covered with fudge and toasted marshmallow flavor. ABV of 13.6%. Not the prettiest of beers, but it does taste great.
Very dark brown color. lighter brown head with a bunch of floaters.
Aroma of chocolate, peanut butter, and vanilla.
Ditto for the taste. Add some bourbon.
    Big-bodied dessert beer.

It tastes better than it looks.
